Samsung Internet is now available on Windows

1

In the ever-expanding landscape of web browsers, a new player has entered the battleground; Samsung Internet. This addition offers users an alternative browsing experience beyond the usual suspects like Chrome and Edge. Now available on the Microsoft Store, Samsung Internet brings familiarity from Samsung Galaxy tablets and Android phones to Windows users. In this article, let us dive into exploring what Samsung has to offer.

Samsung Internet for Windows: An Overview

Compatibility Across Devices

Samsung Internet for browsers

Regardless of your device, be it a Samsung Galax Book or a Surface Laptop Studio, Samsung Browser for Windows is readily accessible. The download is a quick process, with the file size being under 130MB, ensuring a swift installation on Windows 10 or higher. This inclusivity allows a diverse range of users to explore the Samsung Internet experience on their PCs.

Chromium-Powered Similarity

Much like its Android counterpart, Samsung Browser for Windows leverages the Chromium project as its foundation. Signing in with a Samsung Account is seamless, providing users with anticipated features such as ad blockers, extensions, and the popular light and dark modes. The consistent experience across platforms is a key strength of Samsung Internet for Windows.

Syncing Capabilities with a Catch:

Samsung Internet For Windows

Samsung Internet aims to bridge the gap between your phone and PC by offering syncing capabilities for browsing history, bookmarks, and open tabs. However, it’s essential to note the current limitation – password syncing is not yet available. While this feature is lacking, it presents an area for potential improvement in future updates.

Language Barrier in Early Stages

During the initial stages, users might encounter some language barriers, particularly with the splash screen. Although this doesn’t impact the core functionality, it’s a minor aspect that might be addressed in subsequent updates, ensuring a smoother user experience, especially for English speakers.

Performance Observations

While Samsung Internet for Windows doesn’t claim the throne for the smoothest scrolling, it’s a noteworthy option for those seeking alternatives. Initial testing reveals some struggles in scrolling, and loading times on YouTube may be slightly longer compared to established browsers like Chrome and Edge. These performance considerations highlight areas where Samsung Internet could refine its user experience.

Samsung Internet for Windows: A Work-in-Progress

Samsung Internet for Windows appears to be a work in progress, evident in its performance quirks and syncing limitations. The absence of password syncing and minor language translation gaps indicate that improvements could enhance this browser’s competitive edge in the crowded browser space.

A Consideration for Samsung Enthusiasts

For users deeply embedded in the Samsung ecosystem, Samsung Internet for Windows offers a touch of familiarity on a different platform. While it might not be the smoothest experience at the moment, it’s a notable addition, especially for those who value seamless synchronization between their Samsung devices.

Samsung Internet for Windows: Conclusion

In conclusion, Samsung Internet for Windows emerges as a fresh contender in the browser arena. As the app evolves, addressing performance and syncing nuances could propel it to a more prominent position among users exploring alternatives in the crowded browser space.

Redmi sold one billion smartphones in ten years

0

Redmi celebrated its 10th year anniversary on the 29th of November, 2023 in Beijing China. Not only did it unveil the Redmi K70 Series, Redmi Book (2024), Redmi Buds 5 Pro, and Redmi Watch 4. But just some days prior, the Xiaomi subbrand also made a special announcement about its sales in over ten years. Redmi has reached a whopping one billion smartphone sales in a decade. More about this in our article!

Redmi’s One Billion Sales in Ten Years:

Redmi has achieved this groundbreaking achievement by shipping one billion smartphones in a decade. There are a number of factors behind this success which we are discussing today.

Value for Money Products

This Chinese brand has always been known for providing the best value-for-money products at super competitive pricing. It was founded in 2013 under Xiaomi and gained an independent status in January 2019. Its global inception was met with wild success – the Redmi 1S sold like hotcakes in Indian and Asian markets. Its popularity further skyrocketed with the Redmi Note Series, which has been the highest-selling Redmi phone, even up to this day.

Redmi 1S
Redmi 1s

Online Marketing

If you remember, Redmi phones used to be completely sold online. In our neighboring country India, people used to go bonkers over the flash sales with stocks sold out within some seconds! This strategy from Redmi garnered more attention and it really didn’t have to spend much on marketing. Slowly, the brand moved towards the offline market, which also helped to spread its market shares accordingly.

Fan Centric Approach

Another articulating factor behind Redmi’s success is its fan-centric approach. Actually, the idea came from its parent company Xiaomi, sprouting the Mi Fans moniker. The company holds meet-ups and launch events amongst fans in various countries. Not only this the Xiaomi community also organizes multiple contests time and again. So, this approach has worked greatly for both Redmi and Xiaomi.

Brand Image

With the growing user base, Redmi has managed to gain the trust of its customers through pricing and specs. It is spotted as one of the top names in the budget and midrange segment. So, the massive popularity and user base have contributed to a good brand image in that segment. Of course, the brand is not free from criticisms of some of its products and MIUI skin to be general. But things might finally change with the newly announced HyperOS.

Redmi in Nepal

Redmi in Nepal operates under Xiaomi Nepal, which entered Nepal in March 2016. Currently, there are two official distributors of Xiaomi/Redmi phones in Nepal: Vatsal Impex Pvt. Ltd. and Teledirect Pvt. Ltd. Vatsal Impex serves customers inside the Kathmandu Valley, whereas Teledirect looks after the sales and provides services to customers outside the valley. The Note Series along with the Redmi Number Series have been the primary reason for Xiaomi bagging the top market share in the Nepalese smartphone market.

Loyal’s groundbreaking drug aims to extend lifespan for large dogs

    0

In a bid to bridge the gap in life expectancy between large and small dog breeds, San Francisco-based biotech company Loyal is making significant strides with its experimental drug, LOY-001. The Lifespan-Extending Drug for Dogs is designed to extend the lifespan and enhance the quality of life for larger canine companions, a breakthrough that could revolutionize the way we care for our four-legged friend.

Lifespan-Extending Drug for Dogs: An Overview

     The Lifespan Disparity

    Bernese Mountain Dog

The well-established inverse relationship between a dog’s size and its expected lifespan has long been a concern for pet owners. Large breeds like Bernese mountain dogs and Great Danes typically live only six to eight years, while smaller breeds such as corgis and Chihuahuas can enjoy up to 15 and 20 years, respectively. Loyal’s mission is to address this disparity and give owners of larger dogs more time with their beloved pets. Loyal believes this lifespan-extending drug for dogs will help dogs live a more fulfilling life with their owners.

    FDA Confidence and Drug Mechanism

A recent announcement by Loyal revealed that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has acknowledged the potential of LOY-001, stating a “reasonable expectation of effectiveness.” Although the “lifespan-extending drug for dogs” direct impact on extending lifespan is yet to be proven, the FDA’s vote of confidence is a significant step forward.

The life-extending drug for dogs functions by lowering levels of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1), a hormone associated with growth and metabolism. Studies have shown that inhibiting IGF-1 can increase lifespan in various species, and Loyal’s early data indicates a reduction in IGF-1 levels in large dogs, bringing them in line with medium-sized counterparts.

    Early Studies and Future Plans

Loyal’s dedication to advancing canine health is evident in its early studies involving 130 research dogs. The company successfully demonstrated the drug’s ability to reduce IGF-1 levels in large dogs without major side effects, signaling a promising safety profile.

Looking ahead, Loyal plans a more extensive study commencing in 2024 or 2025, enrolling around 1,000 large and giant breed companion dogs aged at least 7 years. testing the efficacy of Loyal’s Lifespan-Extending Drug for Dogs with half of the participants receiving the experimental drug and the other half a placebo,

    Timeline and Ethical Considerations

As Loyal spearheads the development of LOY-001, an innovative drug aimed at extending the lifespan of large and giant dog breeds, the ethical considerations surrounding this groundbreaking research take precedence. In an industry scrutinized for its treatment of animals during testing, Loyal stands as a beacon of responsible and compassionate research.

    Testing Phase Ethics:

The pharmaceutical and research sector has often faced ethical scrutiny for the treatment of animals during experiments, a concern highlighted by incidents such as those involving Neuralink’s experiments with monkeys. Loyal distinguishes itself by adhering to stringent ethical guidelines during its testing phases, ensuring the welfare of the animals involved.

    Loyal’s Ethical Stance

Loyal takes pride in prioritizing animal welfare throughout its studies. With a forthcoming trial set to enroll 1,000 large and giant breed companion dogs aged at least 7 years, the company maintains an unwavering commitment to the highest standards of care and humane treatment.

    Balancing Desires and Well-being

    Lifespan-extedning drug for dogs

As pet owners express the desire for their dogs to live longer, Loyal confronts the ethical challenge of harmonizing these desires with the well-being of the animals. CEO Celine Halioua emphasizes caution, clarifying that the goal is not to create immortal dogs but to slow the rate of aging, promoting longer periods of healthy life for pets.

    Genetic Factors and Responsibility

Veterinary geneticist Danika Bannasch contributes valuable insights, acknowledging that while IGF-1 plays a role in dog size and lifespan, other genetic factors, including the recently identified ERBB4 gene, may also be influential. The responsibility to address genetic issues stemming from centuries of selective breeding is at the forefront of Loyal’s initiative, potentially marking a pivotal moment in mitigating these longstanding concerns.

    Caution in Optimism

Despite an optimistic outlook, Loyal exercises caution in its approach. The company’s emphasis on responsible innovation is epitomized by CEO Celine Halioua’s statement. The timeline for bringing the drug to market is set for 2026, contingent on FDA approval.

    Lifespan-extending drug for dogs: Conclusion

In conclusion, Loyal’s groundbreaking efforts to develop a drug that addresses the size-related disparities in canine lifespans hold promise for dog owners seeking extended quality time with their larger companions. As the company progresses through further studies and regulatory processes, the potential impact on the broader understanding of aging and genetics in both animals and humans looms large.
