Design and Display

The Aspire Go 15 is a clean laptop that is surprisingly lightweight at 1.73 kg. The build is polycarbonate all the way through, so it flexes a little, but at this price that is forgivable.

The 15.6-inch FHD IPS touchscreen is arguably the most interesting thing about this laptop. Yes, a touchscreen at this price point is genuinely useful, and the IPS panel delivers decent viewing angles and anti-glare coating that holds up reasonably well indoors. At 300 nits of brightness and 45% NTSC colour coverage, do not expect anything close to accurate or vivid colours as this is a productivity screen, not a creative one. The 60Hz refresh rate is standard and unremarkable.

Performance and Memory

Under the hood sits the AMD Ryzen 5 7520U, a 6nm chip with 4 cores, 8 threads, and a max boost of 4.3 GHz. It is the same chip found in many budget laptops in this range, and the honest truth is that it is perfectly capable for web browsing, document work, and video calls, but it will feel the strain with heavier multitasking or anything demanding. Where this laptop does hurt is the memory — 8GB of soldered LPDDR5 with absolutely no upgrade path. If you are someone who keeps 15 Chrome tabs open alongside Zoom and a spreadsheet, you will feel the pinch.  Storage is a 512GB PCIe Gen 3 NVMe SSD. 

Battery and Connectivity

In the tank, the Acer Aspire Go 15 has a 53 Wh battery, which should comfortably get you through a full workday of light use. Acer claims up to 17 hours, which is optimistic in the real world, but 7 to 8 hours of mixed use is realistic. You get a 65W adapter in the box.

As for connectivity, you get Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 for wireless. Port selection is actually one of the better things about this laptop — two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports with DisplayPort and Power Delivery, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, one USB 2.0, an HDMI 2.1 port, and a 3.5mm audio jack.
