Additionally, the charger features fixed prongs and a single USB-C port for charging compatible devices. It ships without a charging cable, so you can pair it with your preferred USB-C or Lightning cable. Built-in safety features, including overcurrent protection and temperature control, help keep your devices safe while charging.

Power Delivery and Protocols 

Moving on to the performance, the Apple 20W USB-C Power Adapter uses the USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) standard to automatically deliver the right amount of power to compatible devices. Whether you are charging an iPhone or an iPad, it provides reliable charging. 

It supports a maximum output of 20W, allowing you to charge an iPhone 8 or later and get optimal charging performance out of your iPad Pro and iPad Air. One thing to note is that it doesn't support Programmable Power Supply (PPS), a charging standard used by some Android phones. Instead, it relies strictly on standard fixed USB-PD voltage profiles.
