Display and Design

The Inspiron 16 Plus 7640 sits within Dell's performance-centric laptop line, targeting those who want something more powerful than basic ultrabooks but not quite a gaming machine. And globally, Dell has been selling multiple versions of this laptop with different display sizes and configurations. In Nepal, the device comes in a single Ice Blue finish with an aluminum lid and a polycarbonate base. It measures 356.78 × 250.60 × 16.7-18.2 mm and weighs around 2.16 kg, so it's not exactly lightweight. 

On the display side, this configuration features a 16-inch WQXGA panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. It uses an IPS panel with 100% sRGB color coverage and 300-nit brightness. The display also includes an anti-glare coating and ComfortView Plus support. This is a perfect display for someone who is in the creative field, such as video editing or even color grading.

Performance and Hardware

Inside this beast, we get an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor. This chip comes with 16 cores and 22 threads, with boost speeds up to 4.8 GHz. The laptop includes 32GB of LPDDR5X RAM paired with a 1TB Gen 4 NVMe SSD. 

Interestingly, being an ultrabook, here we do get a dedicated graphics card, i.e., the NVIDIA RTX 4060, which comes with 8GB of VRAM. 

Ports and Extras

The port selection is quite typical here, with two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a Thunderbolt 4 Type-C port with DisplayPort and Power Delivery, HDMI 1.4, a power jack, and a headphone jack. For connectivity, it includes Intel Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3. The laptop also features a backlit keyboard with a numeric keypad and a Precision touchpad. 

Other than that, you get a Full HD 1080p IR webcam, dual microphones, and stereo speakers. And oh yes, it comes with a pretty large battery rated at 90Wh, and it ships with a 100W USB-C charger. With this, it can easily last for a whole day.
