Display and Design

The Inspiron 16 Plus 7640 sits in Dell's performance-focused Inspiron range. These laptops usually target those who want something more powerful than basic ultrabooks but not quite a gaming machine. And globally, Dell has been selling multiple versions of this laptop with different display sizes and configurations. To talk particularly about the model that is available in Nepal, it comes in an Ice Blue finish with an aluminum lid and a polycarbonate base. It measures 356.78 × 250.60 × 16.7 to 19.75 mm and weighs around 2.16 kg, so it's not exactly lightweight. 

On the display side, this configuration features a 16-inch FHD+ panel with a 1920 × 1080 resolution. It uses an IPS panel with 100% sRGB color coverage and 300 nits brightness. The display also includes an anti-glare coating and ComfortView Plus support.

Performance and Hardware

The Nepal model ships with the Intel Core Ultra 9 185H processor. This chip comes with 16 cores and 22 threads, with boost speeds reaching up to 5.1GHz. The laptop includes 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM clocked at 6400MHz and a 512GB Gen 4 NVMe SSD. There’s a single M.2 slot for storage expansion.

Similarly, like most ultrabooks, you don’t get a dedicated graphics card here. And hence, it is rather handled by Intel Arc integrated graphics. This setup is mostly for multitasking, editing, and normal day-to-day usage.

Ports and Extras

The port selection is quite typical. The Inspiron 16 Plus 7640 includes two USB 3.2 Type-A ports, a Thunderbolt 4 Type-C port with DisplayPort and Power Delivery, HDMI 1.4, a power jack, and a headphone jack. For connectivity, it includes Intel Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. The laptop also features a backlit keyboard with a numeric keypad and a Precision touchpad. Other than that, you get a Full HD 1080p webcam with dual microphones and stereo speakers. Similarly, security features include TPM 2.0 and Windows Hello facial recognition. And oh yes, it comes with a pretty large battery, whose capacity is rated at 90Wh and it ships with a 100W USB-C charger. With this, it can easily last for a whole day.
