Design and Display

It comes only in Carbon Black, which fits the no-frills business aesthetic Dell is going for here. At 1.90 kg and up to 18.99mm thick, it's not a slim machine, but that's pretty standard for a 15.6-inch budget laptop.

The build is plastic, as expected at this price. What stands out is the full-size keyboard with a numeric keypad. Security-wise, it features a TPM 2.0 chip and a Kensington lock slot. However, you don't get any fingerprint reader or IR camera, which is where the budget positioning becomes obvious.

It features a 15.6-inch FHD IPS panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, which is actually a pleasant surprise at this price. Most laptops in this range still ship at 60Hz, so indeed the scrolling is going to be very smooth. The laptop has anti-glare. However, the laptop isn't particularly bright, with 250 nits and 45% NTSC, so it's not a display you'd trust for outdoor use or for color-sensitive work. It's only built for office work and video calls. 

Performance

It runs on the Ryzen 5 7520U from AMD's Mendocino lineup. Worth knowing that Mendocino is AMD's entry-level series, not the faster Phoenix-based Ryzen 7000 chips. It's a 4-core, 6nm processor built around efficiency and easily runs things like office apps, web browsing, video calls, and light multitasking, all without issue. 

It comes with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, though it's soldered in single channel, which also holds back the Radeon 610M integrated GPU compared to dual-channel configurations. The 512GB PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD is a good inclusion at this tier.  The laptop ships with Windows 11 Home, Dell Optimizer, and a Microsoft Office trial.

Ports and Connectivity

It features one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, one USB 2.0 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, an HDMI 1.4 port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. No Ethernet or an SD card slot.

Wireless is handled by Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0. Wi-Fi 5 gets the job done on most home and office networks, but it's a step behind the Wi-Fi 6 that most newer laptops in this range now offer. The HDMI 1.4 port supports an external display for dual-screen setups. 

Battery and Rest

It comes with a 41Wh battery and a 65W charging adapter. Real-world battery life should land around 5 to 7 hours under mixed use, enough for a half-day away from a charger but not a full workday. It features a 720p HD webcam with dual array microphones, which covers video calls adequately.r.
