The DJI Avata 360 is DJI's boldest drone yet, as it captures full spherical 8K/60fps footage with two 1-inch-class sensors, so you just fly and sort out your angles in post. It also flips into a traditional forward-facing 4K mode if you want that classic FPV look. And the obstacle sensing goes omnidirectional this time around, with LiDAR up front for night flying too, and the O4+ link gives you a rated 20 km range. Also, the flight time is a solid 23 minutes.

      DJI Avata 360 Overview

      Design and Build

As for the design, DJI comes with a cinewhoop structure, as we saw in Avata 2, along with a refined, high-tech dual-lens camera module. It has propeller guards and a four-axis layout similar to those of the previous Avata series. It weighs 455 grams with the battery.

Overall, it's got a clean design! It also has two orange rings on the outer edge of the motors that will help to identify them from a distance.

      Camera

The DJI Avata 360, as the name implies, features a 360-degree camera system supporting 8K HDR panoramic optical recording. That's super high-resolution, so details will be exceptional. You can capture 120MP stills, while the single-lens mode can record 4K at 60 fps. All this is handled by a dual lens setup with 1/1.1-inch square CMOS sensors. Each one has relatively large 2.4 μm pixels, so we can expect better dynamic range, stability, and low-light performance.

Another interesting thing, this flying machine comes with a replaceable lens system. I think it's a welcoming update to be able to replace the lens. Bringing more flexibility to the 360-degree aerial filming category. Likewise, as a 360 drone, you always have the upper hand to reframe shots, or pick different angles later as well.

      Flight Time, Performance, and Others

This drone has an O4 video transmission system that provides stability for long-range FPV video streaming. It is also compatible with DJI goggles and motion controllers. So, DJI has also got it all covered if you are a FPV lover, like me.

Furthermore, it also has omnidirectional obstacle-avoidance sensors and a smart flight mode that handles automatic path and subject tracking. Likewise, it packs a larger 38.67 Wh battery than its previous model. Which should offer a longer runtime on paper, but actually, it's equivalent to its predecessor, the Avata 2. So, it gets approximately 23 minutes of flight time at its maximum speed. Other features include built-in 42GB of storage and Wi-Fi 6 support.
