Are you looking for a good Android phone? Then how about a one from the makers of Android themselves? Let’s take a look at Google’s 2024 offering — Google Pixel 9!
Google Pixel 9 Overview
Design and Display
Google Pixel 9 comes with a bit of a design overhaul from its predecessor i.e Google Pixel 8. The phone has gone flat and the iconic camera bar has been shortened into a pill shape. The phone comes with aluminium from its body and frame while the front and back are covered with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It is available in Peony, Wintergreen, Porcelain, and Obsidian colour options.
On the front, it has a 6.3-inch Actua display (OLED). It stretches FHD+ in resolution with 1,080 x 2,424 pixels at 422 PPI pixel density. It is also capable of a 60 to 120Hz smooth refresh rate. Besides that, the Google Pixel 9 can reach a peak brightness of 2,700 nits.
Performance and Cameras
Inside, the Google Pixel 9 has the in-house Tensor G4 processor and Titan M2 security coprocessor. The primary silicon comes with 4nm fabrication, eight cores, and a peak clock speed of 3.1 GHz. You get the Google Pixel 9 in a single memory option of 12GB. Meanwhile, you can choose between 128GB and 256GB for the storage. In the tank, it packs a 4,700 mAh battery with 45W wired and up to 15W wireless charging support.
The cameras are one of the key highlights of a Pixel phone. You continue to get a dual-camera setup on the back. The primary shooter and selfie camera remain unchanged at 50MP and 10.5MP units respectively. In the meantime, the auxiliary lens is a 48MP ultrawide lens, which is four times larger in resolution than its predecessor. Likewise, the Google Pixel 9 will continue to enjoy AI-assisted image editing features. AI is an integral part of the general functionalities of the phone as well. Lastly, it boots on Android 14 out of the box, which is an older version of the OS as Android 15 is already out. However, that should not be an issue as Google promises seven years of software updates with the phone.
