Insta360 Mic Pro Overview

Design and build 

Starting with the design, the Insta360 Mic Pro comes with a compact and lightweight design that keeps the overall setup practical for creators on the move. The transmitter measures 38 × 12.2 mm and weighs 19.7 g without the clip, while the receiver measures 55.8 × 27.7 × 21 mm and weighs 29.8 g. The system has a clean, modern appearance, with the transmitter featuring an E-Ink display that adds a distinctive visual element and can be customized with graphics or logos. 

The charging case is considerably larger at 122 × 61.9 × 42.2 mm and weighs 174 g, but it provides a convenient way to store and charge the entire system. Overall, the Mic Pro maintains a compact build without making the individual components feel bulky, making it suitable for both handheld and wearable setups.

Audio and Recording

For audio, the Insta360 Mic Pro uses a 3-mic array and supports recording at up to 48kHz/24-bit. It also gets 32-bit float internal recording, which is useful when there are sudden changes in volume, and you want more room to adjust the recording later. Alongside this, active noise cancellation helps cut down background noise, with different levels available depending on how much noise you need to reduce.

Each transmitter also has 32GB of internal storage, so you can record directly to the mic and keep a backup of your audio. The Mic Pro further supports mono, stereo, and safety-track recording, giving you more control over how the audio is captured.

Connectivity and Battery

The Insta360 Mic Pro offers several ways to connect, depending on the device you are using. The receiver can connect to a camera through the 3.5mm audio output, while USB-C makes it compatible with phones, computers, and other supported devices. 

It also supports Bluetooth 5.4 and can connect directly to select Insta360 cameras without needing the receiver. For longer and more advanced setups, the system supports timecode input and output, while its wireless transmission range reaches up to 400 meters in open, unobstructed conditions. 

As for battery life, the transmitters can run for up to 10 hours and the receiver for up to 11 hours, with the charging case extending total usage to around 30 hours. A 5-minute charge can also provide up to 1.5 hours of use.
