The iPhone 17 comes with an aluminum body that covers both the back and the frame, while the front is protected by Ceramic Shield 2. The device weighs around 177 grams and, like its predecessor, the iPhone 17, carries an IP68 rating. The handset also comes in a handful of colors.
Up front, it comes with a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. The display panel supports ProMotion with up to a 120 Hz refresh rate. While the brightness on this device can reach 1000 nits typically, and a maximum of 3000 nits outdoors.
Performance and camera
For Performance, the iPhone 17 runs on Apple’s new A19 chip built on a third-generation 3nm process, featuring a 6-core CPU (2 performance and 4 efficiency cores), a 5-core GPU with Neural Accelerators embedded in each core, and a 16-core Neural Engine optimized for Apple Intelligence tasks. Paired with an upgrade to 8GB of RAM from last year’s 6GB.
One of the major jumps on iPhone 17 is the move to dual 48MP “Fusion” cameras. The main camera keeps the f/1.6 aperture with optical-quality 2x telephoto cropping, while the ultrawide camera jumps from 12MP to 48MP with an f/2.2 aperture. The selfie shooter also upgrades to an 18MP “Center Stage” camera with a unique square sensor design. Its auto-framing feature keeps you centered during FaceTime with family.
Additionally, the iPhone 16 features WiFi 7, a USB Type-C port, and an enhanced AI-driven Siri experience.
