Lenovo Ideapad 3 (2022): Overview

Here’s a brief description of the design aesthetic, processor, and battery life of the Lenovo Ideapad 3i 2022 (i5, 14″ FHD) laptop.

Design and Build 

Being a budget laptop category, Lenovo Ideapad 3 design is as premium as a notebook can get. It has a brushed matte finish giving it a polished look. It is well-built with no hinge or flexing issues. It’s not cumbersome at 1.43 kilos and is pretty convenient to use.

Lenovo IdeaPad IAU7’s 14″ display is an IPS panel of FHD resolution (1920×1080). It can go up to 300 nits in brightness and covers 45% of the NTSC color gamut. The keyboard, unfortunately, lacks a backlight, and the trackpad is a bit off-center.

Performance and Memory

The Lenovo Ideapad 3 2022 is powered by Intel’s 12 th gen Core i5 processor. The Intel core i5-1235U is an efficient mobile processor that can deliver smooth performance for day-to-day tasks and office work.

This laptop comes with 8GB of DDR4 RAM, but it can be upgraded to up to 16GB. On IdeaPad 3i 2022, you get 512GB of M.2 2280 SSD for long-term storage. The fun part is you can replace that SSD with a 1 TB now and also add an additional 2.5″ HDD. So you can have up to 2 TB of storage on this laptop (1TB SSD + 1TB HDD).

Battery and Connectivity 

Lenovo Ideapad 3 (14IAU7) ships with a 38Wh battery. It’s not a very big battery, but it can still play local 1080p video for up to 7.7 hours at 150 nits of brightness. It performed okay on the MobileMark 2018 benchmark lasting a total of 5 hours.

As for port selection, you get an old-fashioned USB 2 type-A port, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port, an HDMI 1.4b port, a Card reader, and a 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack.

For wireless connections on Lenovo IdeaPad 3i 2022, you have your standard Wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 technology.
