Nothing Headphone (a)

Nothing Headphone (a) Overview

Design and Build

Starting with the design, the Nothing Headphone (a) comes with the brand’s signature transparent and quirky design, but uses an all-plastic build instead of metal. At 310 grams, it is reasonably light for an over-ear pair, although the tight clamping force can get uncomfortable during longer listening sessions.

Sound and Audio Features

For drivers, we get 40mm dynamic drivers that deliver a spacious and immersive sound with plenty of volume. The tuning leans slightly toward bass, which can make some mids and highs feel a little off, but the parametric EQ gives us plenty of room to fine-tune the sound.

This headphone ships with hybrid ANC that can reduce ambient noise by up to 40dB and works well enough for everyday use.

Controls and Usability

For controlling the headphones, we get a regular button, roller, and paddle, all of which feel responsive and can be customized through the Nothing X app. Some features like Channel Hop are limited to Nothing phones, though.

Battery and Charging

Battery life is easily one of its biggest strengths of this headphone as Nothing claims up to 135 hours with ANC off and 75 hours with ANC on, while a quick five-minute charge can add around eight hours of playback.

Connectivity

The headphones use Bluetooth 5.4 with multipoint support and support AAC, SBC, and LDAC codecs. They also work with the Nothing X app, which gives you access to features like EQ customization and other audio controls.
