Design and display

The Tecno Spark 40 features a clean, practical design for everyday users. It measures 165.6 × 77 × 7.7 mm, offering a slim profile that is comfortable to hold. The device also features an IP64 rating for dust- and water-resistance, providing added durability. Tecno further claims drop resistance of up to 1.5 meters, which is a welcome addition in this segment.

On the front, the Spark 40 sports a 6.67-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel has a resolution of 720 × 1600 pixels, delivering adequate sharpness for daily use. The high refresh rate ensures smoother scrolling and animations compared to standard 60Hz displays, making the overall experience more fluid.

Performance and software

The Tecno Spark 40 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G81 chipset, built on a 12nm process. It features an octa-core CPU with 2× Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and 6× Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.8 GHz. 

The phone is available in multiple memory configurations, including 4GB RAM with 128GB storage and 8GB RAM with 256GB internal storage. Storage expansion is supported via a microSDXC card. On the software side, the Spark 40 runs HiOS, an Android-based operating systemthat offers Tecno’s custom features and optimizations on top of the Android experience.

Camera and battery

For photography, the Tecno Spark 40 is equipped with a 50MP rear camera with PDAF and a dual-LED flash to support low-light photography. The main camera supports video recording at up to 1440p@30fpsand 1080p@30fps. On the front, the device houses an 8MP selfie camera with dual-LED flash, suitable for selfies and video calls in dim environments.

The smartphone packs a 5200mAh battery, designed to comfortably last through a full day of use. It supports 45W wired fast charging, with Tecno claiming a full charge from 0 to 100 percent in around 55 minutes. The same battery capacity is shared across all models in the Spark 40 lineup.
