CMF: Brand Overview
CMF is a sub-brand of the British electronics company Nothing. The brand was announced in August 2023, nearly three years after the founding of its parent company on 16 October 2020. The founder of the company is no stranger to the tech world either — it’s Carl Pei, who previously co-founded the popular smartphone brand OnePlus. Given the history, the hype for Nothing, and CMF by extension, was huge right from the start!
Similar to Nothing, CMF started its catalogue with smartphone accessories. Specifically, earbuds, smartwatch, and charging adapter. As the main goal of the brand was to offer high-quality products at an affordable price, they shifted their focus to markets like India where the customers want exactly that. Once the brand arrived in India, it was only a matter of time before it entered Nepal too.
CMF in Nepal
A deal was struck between Nepal’s largest business conglomerate CG and Nothing back on 31 October 2023. However, it was unclear whether or not CMF was included in that deal. Thankfully for us, it indeed did. CMF formally entered the Nepali market alongside its parent company. The brand’s products were available in the grey market before the deal though. CG Digital started selling some pre-existing CMF products like the Buds Pro and Watch Pro.
But the first-ever batch of products to formally launch in Nepal were CMF Phone 1, CMF Buds Pro 2, and CMF Watch Pro 2. And one of the best things was, these products were launched on 8 July 2024 alongside the rest of the world. Meaning, that we got to experience these products on the same day as another person living in some other country.
CMF Mobiles in Nepal
At this point, there is only one CMF mobile. Not just in Nepal, but the entire world because they only recently launched their first-ever phone. And the phone was an eye-catcher indeed. The phone came with an interchangeable back panel! Yes! You could swap the back of the phone for a different one or accessorise it. The CMF Phone 1 was designed in such a way.
The phone was no one-trick pony though. A 6.67-inch AMOLED screen, MediaTek Domensity 7300 chipset, 8GB memory, ample storage of up to 256 GB, unmistakably clean software experience, a 50MP all-rounder primary camera with Sony sensor, 5,000 mAh battery and 33W fast charging — it is a pretty solid midranger. Its unique design coupled with its decent hardware, definitely made it a talk in the town. You can get CMF mobiles in Nepal through official mediums like Hukut Store, CG Digital, and Daraz.
