Lots of 14th Lenovo gaming laptops recently arrived in Nepal but the Legion Pro 7i with top-of-the-line Core i9-14900HX and NVIDIA RTX 4090 definitely stole the show for me. Not only is it one of the only (if not the only) laptops to feature the RTX 4090 in Nepal, it also has great overall specs including a super fast 240Hz display and tons of RAM. In this piece, let’s take a look at the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i Gen 9 (2024), its price in Nepal, features, and specifications.

Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (2024) Overview:

Performance

Since the Legion Pro 7i is a gaming laptop, let’s start things off with performance. Under the hood, the 2024 iteration of the Pro 7i features the newly announced Intel Core i9-14900HX processor. This is the highest-end Raptor Lake (refresh) chip and features a surprising 24 cores (8P + 16E) and 32 threads with a maximum turbo frequency of 5.8 GHz. Intel says you can expect better single-core performance as well as under mixed load.

Looking at benchmarking results from Notebookcheck, the i9-14900HX scores a whopping 2232 points in the Cinebench R23 single-core test. That’s a 61-point lead over the Core i9-13980HX and an 8.6% lead over the Core i9-13900HX (2055 points).

Shipping a laptop with a Raptor Lake CPU over the newer Meteor Lake does sacrifice in the efficiency and iGPU department, but since the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (2024) is a gaming machine, going with the higher-performing Raptor Lake Refresh options was probably the right move here.

Configurations of the laptop can ship with up to an NVIDIA RTX 4090 (at 175W). Although the new chips bring support for up to 192GB of RAM, memory will be limited to 32GB (RAM) and 2TB of Gen 4 SSD.

Design and Display

On the design front, there aren’t a lot of new talking points in the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i (2024). There’s the “LEGION” branding on the left edge and a “Lenovo tag” on the lower right edge of the aluminum lid.

As for the display, you are getting a WQXGA (2,560 x 1,600) res IPS screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio. There will be configurations with up to 240Hz refresh rate and 3ms response times (with OverDrive). Moreover, the screen can hit up to 500 nits of peak brightness, and carry X-Rite Pantone and TUV Rheinland certification for proper color coverage (100% sRGB) and low-blue light emission. It also supports NVIDIA G-Sync and comes with VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification. Lenovo also mentions that higher-end PureSight displays will have a wider 100% DCI-P3 color coverage.

Battery and Ports

Moving on, the Legion Pro 7i (2024) ships with a large 99.99 Wh battery and supports up to 330W wired charging. For wired connectivity, it features a single Thunderbolt 4 port, 4 USB Type-A ports, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port with 140W power delivery, an ethernet port, HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Technically speaking, the new chips support WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and Thunderbolt 5, but the exact specifications of this laptop haven’t been disclosed.
