Looki's brought the L1 AI wearable camera to China after its global launch earlier this year, and this one's positioned as an "AI life manager" that passively records your day and automatically generates vlogs. It's a hands-free camera that clips onto your shirt or hangs around your neck. The thing is, wearable cameras aren't exactly new—Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses have been doing something similar since 2023, and they look like actual sunglasses instead of a clip-on device. So where does the Looki L1 fit in? Now, let's jump in this article, where I will discuss everything about the Looki L1, including its specifications, pricing, and how it compares to other AI wearables.
Looki L1 Overview
Design and Build

The Looki L1 is tiny—it measures 50.53 × 16.84 × 48.02mm and weighs just 32 grams. That's lighter than the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, which weigh around 50 grams depending on the frame style. Looki uses soft, skin-friendly materials, and it comes with both a magnetic clip and a lanyard, which can be used around your neck or clipped to your shirt. Other than that, the device has IP67 water and and is available in Black, White, and Green.
Camera and Recording
The Looki L1 packs a 16mm-equivalent wide-angle lens with an f/2.2 aperture and a 109-degree field of view. It supports 4K photo capture and 1080p video recording at 30fps, with electronic image stabilization and HDR.
The Looki L1's main selling point is automatic recording. You turn it on, and it passively records short clips throughout your day based on motion sensing and scene detection using a six-axis gyroscope. At the end of the day, the Looki AI analyzes your recordings and automatically generates a vlog or highlights reel.

Audio and AI Features
The Looki L1 comes with a triple-microphone array with intelligent noise reduction, which, according to the company, provides clearer voice capture and ambient sound. There's also a 1W built-in speaker with a Smart PA audio system, through which can interact with the Looki AI assistant directly through voice feedback. You can ask it questions or request information about objects in front of you using the camera, and the device will read out the answer through the speaker.
Similarly, through the AI-powered smart search feature, you can search through your recorded moments by describing what you're looking for, and the Looki AI will surface relevant clips. The device also organizes your recordings into "Moments" and creates a private, AI-curated journal called "Life Feeds" that surfaces patterns from your day.
Connectivity and Battery
The Looki L1 has 32GB of internal storage, and data is stored locally by default. Cloud upload only happens after you give permission. The device supports Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band WiFi (2.4GHz + 5GHz).
The Looki L1 runs on a 375mAh battery that takes about 1.5 hours to fully charge. The battery life, however, varies depending on recording mode—Looki claims up to 9 hours if you're recording 5 seconds per minute, 11 hours for 9 seconds every 2 minutes, and 13 hours for 11 seconds every 3 minutes.
Privacy Concerns?
The Looki L1 doesn’t have an always-on recording indicator like the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. That makes its passive, always-recording approach feel a bit more uncomfortable from a privacy point of view, since it’s quietly capturing clips throughout the day—even if everything is stored locally by default.
The Ray-Ban glasses, at least, turn on a small white LED when the camera is active. It’s not perfect, as most people probably don’t even know what the light means, but it does give some signal that recording is happening. To be quite honest, for that reason alone, I’m generally suspicious of any kind of tiny, discreet camera that can record without making it obvious.
