Design and Build Quality

Starting with the design, the iPhone Duo comes with a slimmer and lighter build compared to its predecessor, weighing just 254 grams. It also features a wider cover display with a 1.4:1 aspect ratio, making the outer screen feel more like a regular smartphone when folded. 

The phone measures 11.3mm when folded and 5.2mm when unfolded. Despite the slimmer profile, Apple has retained the IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It also introduces a new nano-texture inner display finish to reduce reflections, while the cover display gets an anti-reflective coating for better outdoor visibility. 

The frame is made using a titanium frame and hinge, while the front and back are protected by Ceramic Shield. The iPhone Duo is available in Night Sky and Star White color options.

Display 

Moving to the display, the iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED inner folding display with a resolution of 1878 x 2670 pixels. On the outside, it gets a 5.4-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED cover display with a resolution of 1398 x 2034 pixels, offering a more practical experience for everyday tasks when the phone is folded. 

Both displays support an adaptive 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and animations. They also come with Apple’s High Brightness Mode reaching 1,600 nits and up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness, helping improve visibility in brighter environments.

Camera System 

For optics, the iPhone Duo features a dual-camera setup at the rear, consisting of a 48MP primary sensor and a 48MP 2x telephoto lens. The main sensor comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for steadier shots and videos, while also supporting high-resolution video recording. Instead of adding more camera hardware, Apple continues to focus on software processing and Apple Intelligence features to enhance the overall photography experience. 

For selfies and video calls, the Duo comes with two front-facing cameras: a 12MP multi-aspect cover camera and a 12MP under-display center stage camera on the inner folding screen. This provides a clean inner display experience while maintaining options across both screens.

Performance and Software

Under the hood, the iPhone Duo is powered by Apple's A20 Pro (2nm) chipset, a custom-tuned flagship processor. It is built to handle demanding tasks like heavy multitasking, gaming, and on-device AI features with ease. The phone comes with 12GB RAM across all storage variants, ranging from 256GB up to 2TB. 

On the software side, the iPhone Duo runs on iOS 27 out of the box. Apple promises long-term major OS upgrades and security updates, making it a suitable option for long-term use. It also brings deeper Apple Intelligence integration along with a more refined multitasking experience, including improved split-screen layouts, smoother app continuity, and better optimization for the foldable form factor.

Battery and Connectivity

Despite its slimmer design, the iPhone Duo comes with a dual-cell battery setup split between the two halves of the phone. It supports 25W wireless MagSafe/Qi2 charging, allowing users to top up the phone conveniently. 

For connectivity, the iPhone Duo supports 5G, along with modern wireless standards like Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, as expected from a flagship foldable. It also includes NFC, Ultra Wideband (UWB) Gen 2 support, and emergency satellite connectivity options for everyday use.
