Lenovo Ideapad 3 (2022): Overview

Here's a brief description of the design aesthetic, processor, and battery life of the Lenovo IdeaPad 3 (2022) laptop with the Ryzen 5 processor.

Design and Build 

Despite being in the budget laptop category, Lenovo Ideapad 3 looks much like a premium device. Its brushed matte finish gives it a polished look. It is well-built with no hinge or flexing issues. It's not cumbersome at 1.63 kilos and is pretty convenient to use. The large 15.6" display is an IPS panel of FHD resolution (1920x1080). It can go up to 300 nits in brightness and covers 45% of the NTSC color gamut. The keyboard, unfortunately, lacks a backlight and the trackpad is a bit off-center.

Performance and Memory

The Lenovo Ideapad  3 2022 is powered by Ryzen's 5000 series processor. The Ryzen 5 5625U may not be top of a line processor but it's no slug either. If you're purchasing this laptop for school work or for the office, it should deliver quite satisfactorily. Having said that, the Intel variant of the same laptop is a better deal when it comes to Price/Performance ratio. This laptop comes with 16GB of DDR4RAM, but it can't be upgraded any further. At purchase, you get 512GB of M.2 2280 SSD for long-term storage. The fun part is you can replace that SSD with a 1TB now and also add an additional 2.5" HDD. So you can have up to 2 TB of storage on Lenovo IdeaPad 3 2022 (1TB SSD + 1TB HDD).

Battery and Connectivity 

Lenovo Ideapad 3 15ABA7 ships with a 38Wh battery. It's not a very big battery, but it can still play local 1080p video for up to 13.3 hours at 150 nits of brightness. It performed decently on the MobileMark 2018 benchmark lasting a total of 8.5 hours. As for port selection, you get an old-fashioned USB 2 type-A port, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A port, a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 port, an HDMI 1.4b port, a Card reader, and a 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack. For wireless connectivity, you have your standard Wifi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 technology.
