Lenovo’s IdeaPad series is quite popular among students and first-time users in Nepal. In recent months, the company has launched the 2022 edition of the IdeaPad Slim 1 and IdeaPad 3/3i. And now, the higher-end IdeaPad 5 has joined the list. In this article, we will discuss the specs, features, latest price, and availability of the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 (2022) in Nepal.
Lenovo IdeaPad 5 (2022) Overview:
Design and Display
On the surface, the IdeaPad 5 looks a lot like the more affordable IdeaPad 3, but there are some key differences. First is the chassis — while the latter is only available in an-all plastic design, Lenovo offers all-aluminum and aluminum-plastic hybrid options on the IdeaPad 5. Fortunately, the IdeaPad 5 available in Nepal has aluminum for both lid and the bottom.
Opening the aluminum lid, you are greeted with a 15” IPS screen with 300 nits of brightness and a matte finish. Lenovo also has models with 14” screen and TN panels, but they are not currently available in Nepal. Moreover, the 15” model is 16.9mm thick, and the weight starts at around 1.4kg.
Keyboard, Audio, and Webcam
The IdeaPad 5 Series (2022) has up-facing stereo speakers on either side of the keyboard, which is different from the bottom-facing setup on the IdeaPad. Backlit keyboard is a standard feature. That aside, there is no major difference in the keyboard and touchpad departments. You even get an option of a fingerprint reader for biometrics. Moreover, the FHD webcam on the little protrusion above the display has a physical shutter, as well.

Performance and Memory
Over on the inside, the 7th Gen Lenovo IdeaPad 5 is fitted with the latest Barcelo APUs from AMD. These chips were launched at the beginning of 2022 and are a minor refresh to Cezanne-based APUs of the previous year. For instance, the Ryzen 5825U and Ryzen 5 5625U bring higher base and boost frequencies— compared to the Ryzen 5800U and 5600U, respectively.

Lenovo also sells the Intel variants with 12th Gen CPUs of this as IdeaPad 5i— but it’s not relevant now as it’s not available in Nepal. We will surely update this article with relevant information when they launch here.
Moving on, you get 8GB or 16GB of dual-channel DDR4 memory. Unfortunately, it is not upgradeable as in IdeaPad 3. As for storage, you get an M.2 slot that can be configured with up to 1TB. Few models even have an additional SATA drive.
Battery and Connectivity
Lenovo IdeaPad 5 series (2022) comes with either a 44.5Wh or 56.5Wh battery pack. The AMD models with 56.5Wh battery are rated for up to 16.1 hours of local video playback and 11.75 hours in MobileMark 2018 benchmark at 200 nits. They ship with a 65W USB-C power adapter. Some higher-end models are even bundled with 100W. The laptops support Rapid Charge Boost— which adds up to 2 hours of usage on a quick 15-minute recharge.
As for wired connections, you get four USB ports, including two Type-C, one HDMI, one SD card reader, and a combined audio jack.

The Ryzen 7 5825U variant with the same memory configuration has a higher asking price of Rs. 115,000. Likewise, you can get the 14″ variant for Rs. 118,00 for the exact same configuration.
