Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 4 (2022) : Overview

Design and Build 

ThinkPad E14 has an all-metal aluminum body which makes it feel premium. It has a 14" FHD display with 45% NTSC coverage. The E14 features an LED backlit keyboard, a Windows Precision glass touchPad, and a familiar Trackpoint. It is relatively light at around 1.6 kg or about 3.5 pounds. It is 324 mm in width, 221mm deep, and has a height of 18mm.

Performance and Memory

AMD's Ryzen 7 5825U processor powers the ThinkPad E14. It has 8 Cores and 16 Threads. The chip has a base frequency of 2 GHz and a max boost frequency of 4.5 GHz. The graphics part is handled by the Integrated AMD Radeon Graphics. Lenovo ThinkPad E14 comes with 16GB of DDR4 RAM where 8GB is soldered on the motherboard, and the other 8GB is in a SO-DIMM slot. But luckily, you can replace the existing stick with a 32GB. Thus ThinkPad E14 can have a maximum of 40GB RAM. You get 512GB SSD with Opal 2.0 security on purchase, which can be further expanded to 1.5TB ( 1x 512GB M.2 2242 SSD + 1x TB M.2 2280 SSD ) via the extra  M.2 2280 slot.

Battery and Connectivity

What powers the ThinkPad E14 is a 57 Wh Li-Po battery. It performed decently on the MobileMark 2018 benchmark as well lasting 15 hours at 200 nits. As for connectivity, you get a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port that supports data transfer, Power Delivery 3.0, and DisplayPort 1.2. You also get an old-fashioned USB 2.0 Type-A port alongside a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, 1 HDMI port, and an Ethernet port. A 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack is also present to meet your audio needs. On the wireless side of things, you get WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1.
