Design and Display

The Redmi Pad SE 8.7 4G comes in a flat design with its edges and frames having no curves. Apart from a circular camera island on the top edge of the back panel, nothing much is going on here design-wise. It is a standard-looking tablet for the most part, however, it is rather smaller considering how enormous tablets can be. Hence, it is quite portable and should be easy to hold with a single hand when consuming content. Furthermore, it ships in Graphite Grey, Aurora Green, and Sky Blue colors. Despite its smaller size, it packs a decent-sized display measuring 8.7 inches. It is an LCD panel with HD+ resolution, up to 90Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 600 nits. Additionally, it comes with TÜV Rheinland low blue light (software-based) and flicker-free certification.

Performance

Under the hood, the Redmi Pad SE 8.7 4G packs the MediaTek Helio G85 processor with 12nm fabbing and a peak clock speed of 2.0GHz. Though it is available in multiple configurations in the international market, we Nepali folks only get a single option. Here, the tablet comes with 6GB LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB eMMC 5.1 storage, which actually is the highest trim available. There is also a dedicated slot for storage expansion with a microSD card of up to 2TB capacity. In the tank, it has a 6,650 mAh battery with 18W charging support. However, you only get a 10W charger bundled with the box. On the software front, this thing boots on the Xiaomi HyperOS based on Android U (Android 14).

Camera and Connectivity

In terms of optics, it comes equipped with two pieces. The rear camera is an 8MP unit, and the front is a slightly lower 5MP one. The Redmi Pad SE 8.7 4G comes with fully functioning cellular connectivity. You can pop in two SIMs and use it for calls, messaging, and 4G internet. Besides that, it also supports dual-band WiFi 5 and Bluetooth v5.3.
