Samsung is one of the most popular smartphone brands in the world, with a wide selection of offerings. The company has introduced its Galaxy A56, an updated midrange device that offers several enhancements compared to the Galaxy A55. The phone features a revamped rear camera design and several upgraded features while keeping many of the core elements from its predecessor
Samsung Galaxy A56 5G Overview
Design and Display
While the front of the Galaxy A56 remains almost identical to the Galaxy A55, the rear design has undergone a major transformation with a pill-shaped triple-camera module. The camera rings are inspired by those seen on the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Z Fold 6. Additionally, the Galaxy A56 is IP67-certified for dust and water resistance.
The A56 boasts a 6.7-inch AMOLED display, slightly bigger than the 6.6-inch screen on the A55. It also offers an impressive peak brightness of 1,200 nits, an improvement over its predecessor, while maintaining the 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and gaming.
Performance and the rest
The Galaxy A56 features the Exynos 1580 chipset, which delivers 37% better efficiency and a 37% faster GPU than the Exynos 1480 in the A55. Like the Galaxy A36, the A56 comes with Android 15 paired with One UI 7. Samsung promises up to 6 years of OS updates for the A56.
Regarding One UI 7, the new software version features a revamped lock screen with a cleaner design, improved shortcuts, and a Now Bar for easy access to activities.
The update enhances visuals with brighter, more vibrant app icons and uniform, colorful widgets. New additions include AI-driven writing tools for better text suggestions, advanced camera options, a Knox Matrix dashboard for enhanced security, a vertical app drawer for easier navigation, and notification filters for better alert management. Furthermore, the A56 includes automatic call transcription after recording, greater customization options, and a reorganized camera app with refined controls.
Battery & Charging
The A56 maintains the same 5,000mAh battery capacity as the A55. However, it now supports faster 45W charging, up from 25W on the previous model. Samsung claims that the A56 can be fully charged in just 1 hour and 6 minutes.
Camera and Rest
The rear camera setup includes a 50MP primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 5MP macro lens, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. The front camera has received an upgrade to 32MP, enabling HDR and 4K video recording. The under-display optical fingerprint sensor, a feature from the A55, is also retained.
