The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is the latest foldable smartphone from the Korean tech giant. It features a 6.7-inch dynamic AMOLED display that can fold in half, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor, and more. Let’s head over to its short overview.
Design and Display
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 brings in the much-needed, outer display update. The device houses a massive 3.4-inch AMOLED cover screen. Samsung calls it ‘Flex Window’ by the way. This brings a whole new range of usability such as a full-size QWERTY keyboard to reply to texts and messages, and a wide range of clockfaces, gestures, and widgets.
This flip phone houses a new double hinge design called Flex Hinge which provides a gapless hinge experience. Samsung ships this foldable in four colors: Cream, Green, Lavender, and Graphite.
Opening the phone will get you to the foldable display. It is a 2X Dynamic AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2640 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 120Hz. You get a Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection as well.
Performance
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 gets the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset under the hood. It is an overclocked version of the regular 8 Gen 2 and offers significant CPU and GPU boosts. The phone can handle any task you throw at it, whether it’s gaming, multitasking, or browsing. Memory-wise, you get 8GB of RAM and 256/512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. On the software side, the phone boots on OneUI 5.1.1 built on top of Android 13.
Camera
This time as well, Samsung has retained a dual camera setup on the Z Flip 5. You get a 12MP main shooter and a 12MP ultrawide-angle unit. On the front side, there is a 10MP sensor, located in a small hole-punch cutout on the main screen.
Battery and Others
Fueling the Z Flip 5 is a 3,500mAh battery with 25W fast charging support. It can also be charged wirelessly via a 15W charger. And for biometrics security, there is a side-mounted fingerprint reader.
