Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 is largely identical to its predecessor, but it does offer some quality of life improvements. The company has finally brought a gapless hinge on the Fold 5. On top of that, "Flex Hinge" is aiding for the phone to be a millimeter thinner and 10 grams lighter than the Fold 4. The display is still identical though, with 2X Dynamic AMOLED, 120Hz refresh rate, and LTPO 2.0. You get the 21.6:18 aspect ratio, which reduces letterboxing in the screen. The foldable is powered by 4 nm-based Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, a customized version of the regular 8 Gen 1. On the back, there is a triple camera setup with a 50MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto shooter, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. For selfies, you get a 10MP sensor on the cover screen and a 4MP under-display camera on the inner display. Moreover, it comes with a 4400mAh Li-Po battery that supports 25W wired fast charging. The phone is available in three memory configurations: 12/256GB, 12/512GB and 12GB/1TB.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 Overview

Samsung has recently unveiled its latest foldable flagship device, the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which promises to deliver a premium foldable experience with improved performance, durability, and features. Let's get into its overview.

      Design and Display

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 features a sleek and elegant design with a metal frame and a glass back. Samsung ships this foldable in three colors: Phantom Black, Icy Blue, and Cream. As a foldable, it consists of a hinge mechanism that allows it to fold and unfold smoothly and securely. With a teardrop hinge, the gap is finally not visible, when closed, this time. The hinge also supports Flex mode, which lets you use the device at different angles for various tasks.

The Fold 5 has two displays: a 6.2-inch cover screen on the front and a 7.6-inch main screen on the inside. Both screens have a dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support, delivering crisp and vibrant visuals. The cover screen has a resolution of 2316 x 904 pixels, while the main screen boasts a resolution of 2176 x 1812 pixels. It also has an under-display camera (UDC) that blends in with the pixels, creating a seamless and immersive viewing experience.

      Performance

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip, which is one of the most powerful ones in the market. After all, it's the overclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, particularly made for Samsung devices. In terms of memory and storage, you get 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage.

The device runs on Android 13 with One UI 5.1.1, which is optimized for foldable devices. It offers various features such as Multi-Active Window, App Continuity, Split Screen, and Drag and Drop.

      Camera

Getting to the optics, the Fold 5 has five cameras. A 10MP selfie camera is on the cover screen, and a 4MP UDC is on the main screen. And a triple rear camera setup is present on the back. The rear camera setup includes a 50MP primary sensor, a 12MP telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom, and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 123-degree field of view. The device can record videos up to 8K resolution at 24fps.

      Battery and Others

The Fold 5 gets its fuel from a 4400mAh dual-cell battery. The device supports 25W fast charging, 11W wireless charging, and 4.5W reverse wireless charging. You also get S Pen stylus support here, which is sold separately as an accessory. The S Pen allows you to write, draw, edit, and control your device with more precision and convenience.
