The Apple Watch Ultra is unlike any other smartwatch Apple has launched. It is built specifically for athletes, adventurers, and explorers that live for the outdoor thrill. And it’s officially available in Nepal too! So let’s find out what the Apple Watch Ultra has to offer, alongside its specs, features, availability, and the latest official price in Nepal.
Apple Watch Ultra Overview:
Design and Durability
It goes without saying that the Apple Watch Ultra is absolutely massive. At 61.3 grams and with a gigantic 49mm case, this is the bulkiest Apple Watch yet. Available in a single GPS + Cellular configuration, the Ultra’s case is made of natural aluminum while it has a ceramic and sapphire crystal back.
Besides the usual digital crown (which is slightly larger here) and side button, this thing also has an additional customizable “Action button” on the left. Painted in bright “international orange”, the Action button lets you quickly trigger different shortcuts including compass, Backtrack, workouts, and more.
Apple also says it has designed all the buttons so that they are accessible even when the user has gloves on. Nice! Other hardware upgrades in terms of design include three built-in microphones and dual speakers — which when complemented with Apple’s improved wind noise-reduction algorithms — should deliver crystal clear phone calls even when you’re in a particularly windy environment.
One for recreational divers
There’s even an 86dB siren that’s reportedly loud enough to alert people up to 600 feet (or 180 meters) away from your location. And this adventure-focused smartwatch can handle all terrain or environmental conditions as well.
First off, it is WR100 certified which means you can take it as deep as 100 meters underwater Apple Watch Ultra is also EN 13319 certified for recreational scuba divers, which is an internationally recognized standard for dive accessories. It is further accompanied by a depth gauge and water temperature sensor. Apple says this can be automatically activated once you submerge underwater (for recreational scuba diving or free diving up to 40 meters).
And you can view the current depth, water temperature, duration underwater, and other metrics here. The Apple Watch Ultra will also get the new “Oceanic+” app later this fall. Developed in partnership with Huish Outdoors, the app will offer dive planning tips, a logbook, and other personalized data.

It can handle everything*
Besides this, the Apple Watch Ultra is also IP6X dust resistant and the MIL-STD-810H tested against different harsh climate conditions. Apple especially points out that this smartwatch can endure on-wrist temperatures as low as -20°C or as high as 55°C (-4°F to 131°F). Its onboard temperature sensor can also give better insight into your sleep cycles — on top of women’s health and menstrual cycle tracking.
And like the other Apple Watches, the Ultra can also detect when you’ve taken a hard fall or when you’ve been in a car crash, and contact the emergency services. Apple has also designed a couple of new strap options for this rugged smartwatch. The Alpine Loop, Trail Loop, and Ocean Band all serve different purposes; some are for better comfort on long runs while some are intended to be used for water sports.
Display
As for the display, you’re looking at a flat 49mm (1.92″) Always-on Retina OLED screen protected by sapphire crystal. It also boasts an incredible 2,000 nits of peak brightness, so I wouldn’t be worried about outdoor visibility at all on the Apple Watch Ultra.
There’s also a new, exclusive watch face called “Wayfinder” that can display up to 8 complications at a time. Including compass. And it can even transform into stark red for better visibility in the dark.
Performance
At the heart of it all is the dual-core Apple S8 chip. The Apple Watch Ultra runs on the latest watchOS 9 platform which offers advanced running metrics, and it will be getting the watchOS 10 update shortly as well. According to Apple, it can display up to 6 training metrics at once — the highest on any Apple Watch. Compatible with iPhones running iOS 16, watchOS 9 also brings a slew of other features including a new “Low Power” mode, advanced sleep tracking, a redesigned Compass app, and international roaming.
This guy also features the best positioning system on an Apple Watch yet. With both L1 and L5 frequency GPS, it should offer accurate location readings even when you’re in dense trees or something. It also enables the “Backtrack” feature I mentioned earlier. This basically lets you retrace your steps to your original location in case you get lost or disoriented from your intended route.
It’s similar to the “Track Back” feature on Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Or “Route Back” on Huawei’s premium smartwatches like the Watch GT 3 Pro. Other than this, the Apple Watch Ultra can track everything from your heart rate, blood oxygen (SpO2), stress, ECG levels, skin temperatures, and more. The updated Workout app on watchOS 9 lets you train for different kinds of workouts. There’s even a new “Multisport” workout that can intelligently switch between swimming, biking, and running on its own.
Battery
Apple Watch Ultra also has the best battery endurance in the lineup. With up to 36 hours of battery life during normal usage on a single charge — or 18 hours with LTE. And you can even extend it to up to 60 hours using the aforementioned “Low Power” mode. As a result, Apple says the Ultra can last you through a long-course triathlon which includes a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride, and a full 26.2-mile marathon. And of course, it also supports fast charging via a USB-C magnetic charging cable.
