DJI is undoubtedly the pioneer when it comes to drones. This Chinese company has now unveiled the DJI Neo 2 drone with some upgrades over its predecessor, the DJI Neo. Here in this article, we’ll dive into the specs, features, and expected price of the DJI Neo 2 in Nepal.

DJI Neo 2 Overview

Keeping it lightweight

The DJI Neo 2 maintains the lightweight profile of the DJI Neo, although it weighs 151g, as compared to 135g for the latter. Because that weight is still less than a smartphone’s, which makes it easy to carry around. One of the most attractive features of the Neo 2 is its ease of use. You can control the drone using simple gestures or through the smartphone app.

Sensors

The sensors are also exciting to look at. It gets an advanced sensor suite with an omnidirectional vision system with forward-facing LiDAR. So, this little guy will navigate obstacles smoothly than before. Additionally, the Neo 2 introduces ActiveTrack, a feature that allows the drone to track subjects automatically. New for this version is the Cycling option, which can track moving cyclists and other fast-moving objects.

DJI Neo 2 Drone Sensors

Camera

Despite the camera sensor being the same 1/2″ sensor, the lens now boasts a wider f/2.2 aperture, up from f/2.6. So, it’s gonna allow more light to enter, helping significantly in low-light situations. Likewise, the single-axis gimbal is now upgraded to a more capable 2-axis mechanism (tilt and roll).

DJI now lets you shoot 4K 60fps video, up from 4K 30fps from its predecessor, in horizontal mode and 2.7K 60fps up from 1080p 60fps in vertical mode. By default, the Neo 2 uses Wi-Fi video transmission, offering a range of up to 500 meters. However, users can opt for the O4 system (sold separately), which offers a longer range of 10 kilometers. The O4 system, however, adds extra weight to the drone, so it’s a consideration for those seeking the lightest configuration.

Flight and Battery

As an upgrade, the DJI Neo 2 offers a maximum speed of 5 meters per second in sports mode, which is a notable improvement over the original model’s 2 meters per second. Additionally, flight time has been extended to 19 minutes, just one minute longer than its predecessor. Other than that, it gains some resilience, boasting a Level 5 wind resistance rating (up to 10.7 meters per second).
