A new Government Courier Service will go live within 100 days for doing so!

Nepal just got a new government a few days ago, and it's all in the news. After all, PM Balen's 100 digitally powered delivery-based plans sound promising. And under this very plan, we hear something that's never been heard before: Home Delivery of Passport and License. Let's head more into this news.
Home Delivery of Passport and License in Nepal Overview:
Government Courier Service
PM Balen Shah formed a new ministerial cabinet and announced 100 digital plans. The new government is now set to operate a new Government Courier Service. It is mentioned on plan number 27. So, finally, the Nepalese postal service is getting advanced. And these are the documents we'll get delivered to our home:
- Citizenship Copy
- Passport
- Driving License
- Other government documents
Well, it's not live yet, but it will start within 100 days, as planned. If you are curious, the new government has already launched a website to view the progress, called pratipakchya.com.

What is the existing scenario?
Things have been the same for decades now. It's a lengthy process to get a new government ID. We have to stand in line, go through the hassle, and then head back to the same location after weeks to pick it up. Working people often have difficulty finding time to visit government offices. We often have to take leave to do so.

So, getting government IDs and documents delivered to your home is a promising move. Once the plan goes live, it will be pretty handy. No need to visit those offices anymore!

What else is in the new Plans?
There are a lot of things in the new plans. Here I have jotted down the ones related to citizenship, NID, passport, and similar documents:
- The new government is also looking to develop an autofill system to eliminate the need to enter citizens’ data each time they access a service. It will just provide all your details automatically after you enter your citizenship number.
- Likewise, the Nagarik App will become more functional, with options to apply for a driving license and a passport through it. Users will also be able to download certificates from the official Nagarik App or via email.
- NID will be a single, faceless, trackable, and time-bound service for citizens’ ID-related work.
- Government portals and apps will be simplified and made accessible for people with limited tech skills or impairments.
- A national digital governance platform will be developed to offer interoperable public services.
