At the Snapdragon Summit, Honor’s CEO George Zhao got on the stage to announce the upcoming Magic 6. The executive also promised to bring some AI features utilizing Qualcomm’s AI Engine from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. While a new info about the primary sensor is out on the Chinese microblogging site: Weibo. So, let’s get into the leaks and rumors surrounding the Honor Magic 6.

Honor Magic 6 Leaks:

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

It is certain that the new Honor Magic 6 will leverage Qualcomm’s latest chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This chip consists of a Cortex-X4 that can go up to 3.3GHz, five Cortex-A720 cores with a max frequency of 3.2GHz, and two Cortex-A520 cores clocking at 3.2GHz. And most important of all, Qualcomm’s Hexagon NPU for AI processing.

All of its AI features, which we will get through in a minute, will be powered by this SoC’s on-device AI chip.

Honor Magic 6 Teaser: Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

There is a video on the official Honor YouTube channel where the company gives a brief introduction to its eye-tracking technology. A woman stares at the capsule for a brief moment which opens a small snippet of the Uber app (just like Apple’s Live Activity) before launching the whole app.

But the nuances of how it’ll work aren’t clear yet! We will have to wait for Honor Magic 6’s release to find out more about this feature.

YOYO Assistant

Moreover, the CEO also mentioned that the Magic 6 will have a new virtual assistant. Powered by a large language model (LLM), the YOYO assistant reportedly uses the Snapdragon AI chip (basically the NPU) for in-house processing.

Some of the features mentioned in the summit include adjusting templates, themes, and music with voice prompts. Plus, the AI can also create a short montage from photos and videos in your storage with a command.

OmniVison Camera Sensors

A popular leakster, Digital Chat Station (DCS) has come with the main camera detail. The Weibo post mentions an OmniVision OV50K primary shooter, with the Magic 6 being the first one to house it. Speculations are pointing to a 1-inch sensor size. Details about the other cameras are still inside the curtain as of now.

Honor Magic Expected Launch Date:

Apart from the teaser, we didn’t exactly get a date for the Honor Magic 6… However, from previous releases, we expect it to be released within the first half of 2024.
