CES 2021: Lenovo unveils the new IdeaPad 5G/LTE, IdeaPad 5 Pro, and 5i Pro

Lenovo has unveiled three new products under the IdeaPad lineup at CES 2021. This includes the IdeaPad 5G/LTE, 5 Pro, and 5i Pro. Let’s take a look at the specs, features, price, and availability of the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 lineup (IdeaPad 5G, IdeaPad 5 Pro, IdeaPad 5i Pro).

Lenovo IdeaPad 5 2021 Lineup:

IdeaPad 5G/LTE

As suggested by the moniker, the highlight here is the 5G connectivity. However, there is an LTE version of the same laptop as well. The two variants are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8cx series processors. On the graphics front, there is the Adreno 680 GPUThe 5G variant of the Lenovo IdeaPad comes with the Snapdragon X55 modem.

IdeaPad 5G

The laptop comes with a 14-inch FHD display with an aspect ratio of 16:9. It has a brightness level of 400 nits and covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut. In terms of memory, it has 8GB of RAM and is available in 256GB and 512GB of internal storage.  

Getting to connectivity, the Ideapad 5G/LTE has two USB Type-C ports and one USB Type-A port. Both are based on USB 3.2 Gen 1. The Type-C ports have support for Power Delivery 3.0 and DisplayPort 1.2. You also get an audio jack and a SIM card slot.

The laptop is fueled by a 51Whr battery with support for Rapid Charge Express. Lenovo has also included an IR camera for face unlock and Dolby Audio optimization on the front-facing speakers.

IdeaPad 5 Pro and IdeaPad 5i Pro 

Moving on, the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro and 5i Pro are identical devices except for their processor. The “i” in the 5i represents Intel. Here, the IdeaPad 5i Pro is powered by the 11th-gen Intel Core processors. On the other hand, the IdeaPad 5 Pro is powered by AMD Ryzen processors. Lenovo is offering GeForce RTX GPUs on the 16-inch IdeaPad 5 Pro. The other variants will come with up to MX450 GPUs.  

Depending upon the variant, you can configure the laptop with up to 16GB or 32GB of RAM and 1TB SSD PCIe M.2 storage.

Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro

These devices will have full-metal chassis and will be available in two screen sizes – 14-inch and 16-inch. The 16-inch models have a higher refresh rate (90>120Hz) but with a lower brightness level (350 nits<400 nits) compared to the 14-inch model. 

There are two color options to choose from – Cloud Grey and Storm Grey. Also, Lenovo has joined the 16:10 aspect ratio party with the new IdeaPad 5 Pro/5i Pro. The company has reduced the bezels around the screen for a 90% screen-to-body ratio. Like the IdeaPad 5G, the screen here covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut.  

Similarly, the 14-inch models will include a 56.5 Whr battery with support for Rapid Charge Boost. On the other hand, the 16-inch models feature a beefier 75Whr battery and Rapid Charge Express. Additionally, the Intel-powered 16-inch IdeaPad 5i Pro will offer single-cable Thunderbolt technology.  

Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Lineup Price and Availability 

Lenovo IdeaPad 5G/LTE will soon be available in select markets outside of Noth America. The IdeaPad 5Pro will be available in North America starting in May with a starting price of $1149.99. On the other hand, the 14-inch IdeaPad 5 Pro will be available in EMEA in March and it will have a starting price of 799 Euros.  

Likewise, IdeaPad 5 Pro will be available in EMEA in March with a starting price of 899 Euros for the 16-inch models and 699 Euros for the 14-inch model.
