So, the question is, if you are coming from a Razr 60 family, should you upgrade?

Motorola has officially introduced the Razr 70 series with three new models, including the Razr 70, the Razr 70 Plus, and the Razr 70 Ultra, expanding its flip smartphone lineup after the success of the Razr 60 series. The new lineup comes with a display brightness upgrade, a 50MP front camera, a 5000mAh battery in the Ultra model, and enhanced AI-driven features compared to its predecessor. However, these updates feel more passive than a radical change. So in this article, I will discuss everything you need to know about the Motorola Razr 70 series, including their features, specs, availability, and expected price in Nepal.
Motorola Razr 70 series Overview
Design and Display
Starting with the design, the Razr 70 series features titanium-reinforced hinges and has military standards for durability against environmental factors, such as altitude, temperature, and humidity. The Razr 70 Ultra is available in Alcantra and Wood veneer finishes, whereas the Razr 70 Plus and 70 come in matte and leather-inspired textures in colors like Hematite, Violet Ice, and Bright White. Additionally, just like the Razr 60 series, it has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance.
Moving on to the display, the base model Razr 70 comes with a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling. The main screen can reach up to 3,000 nits of peak brightness. Its secondary screen features a 3.6-inch LTPS AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 1700 nit peak brightness.
Talking about the Razr 70 Plus and 70 Ultra models, both feature a slightly bigger secondary screen with a 4-inch AMOLED panel that supports a 165Hz refresh rate, offering snappy interaction with apps, notifications, and AI assistance without opening the device.

Similar to the base model, the Razr Plus also has a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with 3000-nit brightness for outdoor use and supports up to a 165Hz refresh rate. While the Razr 70 Ultra packs a 7-inch Extreme AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and up to 5,000 nits of peak brightness, which is a huge jump from the older 60 Ultra. This ensures perfect visibility even under direct sunlight.
Additionally, the Razr Ultra is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3, which is said to deliver 75% better drop performance compared to the previous generation, and the Razr 70 and 70 Plus have Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection against drops and scratches.
Camera and Battery
In terms of the camera, there is a notable difference as the Motorola Razr 70 series has moved from the 13MP ultrawide sensor found on the 60 series to a 50MP lens system. Here, both the base and the Plus variant share the same camera setup, where you get a 50MP main camera with OIS and a 50MP with an f/2.0 aperture ultrawide lens replacing the 13MP lens from the predecessor. For the front, it is similar to the older model with a 32MP camera with Quad Pixel technology for selfies and video calls.
Now, the Razr 70 Ultra features a three-camera setup. On the back, it has a 50MP main camera with a LOFIC sensor to capture up to 6x more dynamic range and OIS stabilization, making it ideal for low-light photography. Additionally, it comes with a 50MP ultrawide and a macro lens.
Here, instead of a 32MP, you get a 50MP selfie camera that delivers better detail and AI-enhanced skin tone images. The Razr 70 series camera has come with improved AI-driven features like ‘Group Shot’ and ‘Auto Night Vision’, making the upgrade largely on the software side.

For the battery, the Razr 70 packs a 4800mAh battery paired with 30W wired and 15W wireless charging, whereas even with the Plus name, funnily, it comes with a 4500mAh battery with support for 45W wired and 15W wireless charging. Moreover, it also offers 5W wireless charging. Keeping its name, the Razr 70 Ultra comes with the massive 5000mAh battery paired with 68W wired, 30W wireless, and 5W of reverse wire charging for all-day use.
Performance and Software
Under the hood, the Razr 70 series also comes with a different chipset. The base model Razr 70 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7450X SoC, which is paired with 8GB RAM and up to 128GB UFS 3.1 of storage to handle daily tasks, while the Razr 70 Plus runs on Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 of storage.
Lastly, the Motorola Razr 70 Ultra is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, built on a 3nm node, and is configured with 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage.
On the software side, all models in the Razr 70 series boot Android 16, where you can expect 3 years of major updates and 4 years of bi-monthly security upgrades.
