Nepal Telecom has started converting its 28-day prepaid packs into 30-day plans. Combo-299 is already updated, while all similar NTC packs will shift by Baisakh 11.

Following a directive from Minister for Communication and Information Technology Dr. Bikram Timilsina, Nepal Telecom (NTC) has extended the validity of its 28-day prepaid packages to 30 days. In the first phase, the company has already updated the validity of its Combo-299 Pack to 30 days, effective from Tuesday night (7th April).
The move came after discussions between Minister Timilsina and Nepal Telecom officials. According to acting Managing Director Reena Dangol, one package has already been updated, while all other 28-day prepaid packages will also be converted into 30-day plans by Baisakh 11.
Interestingly, this same issue had recently been raised in India by Rajya Sabha member Raghav Chadha, who questioned why so-called monthly prepaid plans were valid for only 28 days and effectively forced users to recharge 13 times a year. Now, under Nepal’s new government led by Balendra Shah, a similar reform has begun to take shape in Nepal as well.
Previously, under the 28-day model, customers often had to recharge twice in a single calendar month or renew their package earlier than expected. With the new arrangement, a single monthly recharge will now be enough, making it easier for users to manage their expenses.
Since customers will now receive two extra days of service at the same price, data, voice, and SMS users are expected to benefit directly. Nepal Telecom has described the change as a consumer-friendly step and said it believes the decision will also help create a more competitive environment in the telecom sector.
