After months of rumors, leaks, and speculation, OnePlus has finally launched the 15R globally, and if you were not following the news, this phone is an international version of the Ace 6T that launched in China earlier this month. But the thing is that while they're clearly siblings built on the same platform, the 15R gets some notable downgrades compared to its Chinese counterpart. So if you were expecting a straight rebrand, that's not quite what we're getting here. Now, let's jump in this article, where I will discuss everything about the OnePlus 15R, including its specifications, US pricing, and when it's launching in Nepal.
OnePlus 15R Overview
Design and Display

The OnePlus 15R looks identical to the Ace 6T—same 6.83-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution (2,800 × 1,272 pixels) and a 165Hz refresh rate. Its brightness also peaks at 1,800 nits, and the display supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and DC dimming. There's Oppo Crystal Shield Glass protection on the front, and the phone carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for water and dust resistance. The 15R comes in Charcoal Black and Mint Breeze, both with a glass rear finish.
Performance

Under the hood, you're getting the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. This is also the first global device to get this chip. Although the 8 Gen 5 shouldn't be confused with the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, as that's more exclusive to the OnePlus 15, it's still is a capable processor. OnePlus claims CPU performance is up 36%, GPU is up 11%, and AI performance is up to 46% compared to the previous generation. The 15R comes with OnePlus's CPU Scheduler for gaming-focused optimizations and a full-device cooling architecture with an aerogel screen cooling layer, a large vapor chamber for the SoC, and a graphite layer in the lower back cover.
The 15R is configured with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and either 256GB or 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage. The Chinese variant had a slightly different variant.
Camera System

The 15R packs a 50MP Sony IMX906 main sensor with OIS and f/1.8 aperture, along with an 8MP ultrawide lens with f/2.2 aperture. There's no telephoto camera, which is a downgrade from the OnePlus 13R that had a 50MP zoom camera. Moreover, the front camera is a 32MP shooter with f/2.0 aperture, which is double the resolution of the Ace 6T's 16MP selfie camera. So the global version gets a better front camera but loses the telephoto lens entirely.
OnePlus has replaced its Hasselblad partnership with the OnePlus DetailMax Engine, which is shared with the OnePlus 15. The 15R includes features like Ultra Clear Mode for daytime photos, Clear Burst for reducing motion blur with up to 10 shots per second, and Clear Night Engine for simultaneous short and long exposure shots. The video recording also maxes out at 4K @ 120fps.
Battery and Charging
The OnePlus 15R packs a massive 7,400mAh battery, which is still huge and larger than the OnePlus 15's 7,300mAh cell and way bigger than the OnePlus 13R's 6,000mAh battery. But the Ace 6T has an 8,300mAh battery, which is 900mAh larger. But anyway, OnePlus claims the 15R is a "two-day phone" that can potentially stretch into a third day depending on usage, and the battery should retain at least 80% capacity after 4 years.
Charging is also scaled back. The 15R supports up to 80W fast charging, but the included charger is only 55W. If you want the full 80W speed, you'll need to buy a separate SUPERVOOC 100W adapter.

Software and Other Features
The 15R runs OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16, while the Ace 6T runs ColorOS 16. OnePlus is also promising 4 years of Android updates and 6 years of security updates. The phone includes AI features like Plus Mind, a personal AI organizer that lets you save on-screen content via the Plus Key or a three-finger swipe. It's context-aware and can create reminders or add calendar events. There's also Gemini integration that cross-references saved data with weather and online info to generate personalized plans.
The 15R has an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which is faster and more reliable than the optical scanners used in previous OnePlus models. There are also stereo speakers, Eye Comfort Mode for gaming, and optional blink reminders.
