OPPO A6k just went official in China without much fanfare. It's a pretty standard budget phone that goes big on battery life, thanks to its large 7,000 mAh battery, although there's not much else going on here. The other important thing you need to know is that the Chinese version of the OPPO A6k has a different processor, a larger battery, and a slightly different camera setup than its global variant.

Anyway, starting with performance, the OPPO A6k is powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 6300 chip, compared to a less powerful Snapdragon 685 on the global model. This one's a 5G-ready processor, which should handle social media usage and other light tasks pretty well. While you're gonna need to adjust the graphics settings to low or medium for games like PUBG for a playable experience. Furthermore, the OPPO A6k comes with 8/12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256/512GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

But surprisingly enough, the OPPO A6k runs on the older ColorOS 15.0 based on Android 15. Instead of the newer Android 16-based ColorOS 16.0. The OPPO A6k has a standard plastic build. However, like most budget phones these days, the A6k also prioritizes durability. OPPO says it has incorporated a drop-resistant and shock-resistant design for this phone, and it also secures an IP66 + IP68 + IP69 rating. As for the color options, you can find this budget phone in Twilight Blue, Seashell White, and Dawn Gold finishes.

In terms of display, the OPPO A6k has a flat 6.75-inch LCD panel with HD+ resolution. This budget phone also offers a smooth scrolling experience in everyday use thanks to its 120Hz refresh rate. Whereas its 900 nits of maximum brightness is decent enough for an okay-ish outdoor viewing experience.

Camera and Battery

OPPO A6k pairs a 50MP main sensor with a 2MP monochrome sensor at the back. We would've loved to see an ultrawide shooter instead of the monochrome sensor, so that's a little disappointing. Up front, you also get an 8MP selfie camera inside a hole-punch cutout that maxes out at 1080p 30 fps videos like the main camera.

Finally, the OPPO A6k gets its juice from a massive 7000 mAh battery that should easily last a couple of days under casual use. It supports 45W wired charging, while OPPO mentions you can get 2 hours' worth of online streaming with a quick 5-minute top-off.
