Oppo announces K15 Pro and K15 Pro+ with newer Dimensity processor and built-in active cooling fan

Oppo has officially launched the K15 series in China, as the successor to the K13 Turbo lineup. Expanding their gaming lineup,  you can find the series in two models, named Oppo K15Pro and K15Pro+. Both devices target gaming enthusiasts and focus on performance. It is ideal for people who are looking for a powerful smartphone to handle heavy tasks, such as video editing, gaming and multitasking. So yeah, in this article, I will discuss everything you need to know about the K15 Series, along with its design, features, and expected price in Nepal.

K15Pro and K15Pro+ Overview

Design and Display

Starting with the design, the Oppo K15Pro and K15Pro+ feature a detachable “Deco” design, meaning it has a magnetic decorative ring around the camera module that you can detach or change it in different color that suits your style. Both models come with a metal frame and include RGB LED lights that react to gaming events and notifications. The design seems futuristic and premium compared to other gaming smartphones found in this segment.

Moving on to the display, the K15Pro comes with a 6.59-inch 1.5K OLED display with up to 144Hz refresh rate and an in-display optical fingerprint sensor for security. Whereas in the K15Pro+, you get a 6.78-inch OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate, which delivers a smooth gaming experience. Likewise, the Pro+ model comes with an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, meaning you don’t have to worry about the greasy or dusty hands when opening the device. 

Performance 

Under the hood, the K15 series is equipped with powerful CPUs to handle your intensive tasks. The K15Pro comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Super processor, which is excellent for heavy gaming and multitasking. However, if your budget allows and performance is your top-notch priority, then you should go for the K15Pro+ as it is powered by Dimensity 9500s, offering superior performance compared to the 8500 Super processor. In both models, you get a unique active cooling system to offer stability and avoid throttling during long gaming sessions.

Unlike most gaming smartphones that use passive vapor chambers or graphite sheets, the K15 series features a “Gale Cooling Engine”, meaning it has a physical, mechanical fan that actively moves air to keep the device cool. These fans run automatically and adjust their speed based on workload, managing heat independently. The K15 series comes with an IP69 rating, making them highly resistant to dust and water.

Camera and Battery

In terms of cameras, there is no difference between the K15 Pro and K15 Pro+. Both devices feature a 50MP main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, paired with an 8MP ultra-wide lens with an f/2.2 aperture. On the front, you get a 16MP selfie camera with an f/2.4 aperture for selfies and video calls. Both models also include OIS and EIS stabilization, which help to reduce shake and blur in photos and videos. You can record the videos up to 4K at 60fps, ensuring sharp and detailed footage. So, while these smartphones are primarily marketed as gaming devices, they still deliver a solid camera experience, especially when compared to other gaming-focused lineups like Poco.
 

When talking about the battery life, in the K15Pro, you get 7500mAh of battery with 80W fast charging, meanwhile, the K15Pro+ is packed with an 8000mAh battery with 100W fast charging. It means they can easily run up to 10 to 12 hours of heavy gaming, and two to three days if used casually. Furthermore, the K15 series also supports reverse wired charging, allowing you to charge other small gadgets like earbuds, smartwatches, etc.

Storage and Software

Both Oppo K15Pro and K15Pro+ come with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, which is currently the fastest type of RAM available for mobile devices. This makes the multitasking faster and more power-efficient compared to older standards. With this, the apps in the background stay open for a longer time, and switching between games and other tasks feels seamless. 

The K15 models differ in UFS, it is the internal storage used for your files, photos, and game data. The K15Pro comes with UFS 3.1 storage, while the Pro+ features a faster UFS 4.1 standard. You can feel this difference when playing a massive game like Genshin Impact. In the later version, the heavy game loads faster, and updates or installations of large apps are much quicker. 

Moving on, both K15 series ship with ColorOS 16 based on Android 16, and because they are gaming-focused devices, they also include HyperBoost technology that ensures stable and consistent frame rates that is required during heavy gameplay. While there is no official announcement about their update policy, based on Oppo’s current policy, you can expect to receive 2 to 3 major Android versions, generally supported with 3 to 4 years of regular security updates to keep the device safe.

Oppo K15 series Availability and Price in Nepal

The Oppo K15Pro and K15Pro+ were launched in China with a starting price of 2,999 Yuan and 3,499 Yuan, respectively. While it is not yet confirmed when the series will enter the Nepali market, one can expect the following price range.
