Are you looking for a good folding phone? Then Google’s 2024 offering — Pixel 9 Pro Fold- will surely spike your interest.
Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold Overview
Design and Display
Despite the “9” in its name, it is a successor to the Google Pixel Fold launched last year. The phone is marketed as the “thinnest foldable available”, however, this is true only for the American audience. Regardless, it is one of the thinnest options in the world with an unfolded thickness of 5.1mm. It is also a pretty solid unit with a steel and aluminium alloy hinge, an aluminium frame, and Gorilla Glass Victus 2 layering on the front and back. This phone also comes with an IPX8 rating on top of that.
For displays, it has a 6.3-inch Actua display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. It is basically the same display as the one you get on the base Pixel 9. Inside, it has a large 8-inch Super Actua Flex display with 2K resolution. The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is one of, if not THE largest display on a smartphone. It can go from 1Hz to 120Hz in refresh rate and up to 2,700 nits in brightness while offering 2K resolution.
Performance and Cameras
Similar to other Google Pixel 9 offerings, it comes with in-house Tensor G4 processor. It is further coupled with Titan M2 security coprocessor. For memory, it comes with a single 16GB option. Meanwhile, you can choose between 256GB and 512GB for the storage. It boots on Android 14 out of the box and will be receiving seven years of updates.
Talking of cameras, it may appear to have four units, but in reality — it is a triple-camera setup. The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold comes with a 48MP primary shooter, 10.5MP ultrawide with macro focus, and 10.8MP telephoto lens. For selfies, it has 10MP cameras on the inside as well as the outside.
