Google Pixel Fold Overview:
Design and Display
Alongside Pixel 7a and Pixel Tablet, Google finally unveiled its first foldable phone—the Pixel Fold—at I/O 2023. And this phone looks much like the OPPO Find N2, instead of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. It has a short and wide 17.4:9 display up front, that unfolds into a 6:5 screen.
More specifically, Pixel Fold has a 7.6-inch OLED display that folds in half, with a 5.8-inch cover screen on the outside. The main display here uses ultra-thin glass (UTG) and a special protective layer to prevent creases and scratches. Whereas the cover screen gets Gorilla Glass Victus protection. And both these displays support a 120Hz refresh rate too. Google’s first foldable is IPX8 water-resistant too.
Performance
Under the hood, this thing is powered by Google’s own Tensor G2 chip, which is optimized for AI and machine learning. And it also enables features like Live Translate (to translate speech and text in real-time across apps) and Magic Eraser (to remove unwanted objects from photos with a tap).
Google Pixel Fold comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage. It runs on Android 13 out of the box, and Google has promised 3 generations of OS and 5 years of security updates for this phone.
Camera
Getting to cameras, Pixel Fold has a triple rear camera system that consists of a 48MP primary, a 10.8MP ultra-wide, and a 10.8MP telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom. The phone also has a 9.5MP selfie camera on the cover screen and an 8MP sensor on the main screen inside some rather thick bezels.
Others
Fueling the Google Pixel Fold is a 4,821mAh battery that supports wireless charging as well as wired fast charging with a 30W adapter. For security, Google has used a side-mounted fingerprint sensor here. Its stereo speakers support spatial audio too.
