Google Pixel 9a Overview:

Google has recently launched the Pixel 9a, a successor to the Pixel 8a. The phone offers a lot of value for money, as it shares many features with the flagship Pixel 9.  Let us review some of the key aspects of the new Google Pixel 9a.

Design and Display

Pixel 9a has a distinctive design this time. The Vizor camera module takes a farewell and all we get is a clean camera module this tire around. However, the aluminum frame is here to stay. It also retains the IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. You get four color options: Iris, Peony, Porcelain, and Obsidian.

The phone has a 6.3-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. It supports HDR and has a refresh rate of 120Hz, a bump from the 90Hz refresh rate of the last gen, which makes it smoother and more responsive. It is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Performance

Powering the Pixel 9a is the Google Tensor G4 (4nm); the same chipset that runs on the Pixel 9 and the Pixel 9 Pro. It has an octa-core CPU with two Cortex-X1 cores clocked at 3.1 GHz, two Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 2.6 GHz, and four Cortex-A520 cores clocked at 1.9 GHz. As for the memory configuration, it comes with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

The phone boots on Android 15, which is the latest version of Google’s operating system. It also benefits from Google’s promise of 7 years of security and 7 years of OS updates.

Battery and Charging

Google Pixel 9a gets its juice from a 5100mAh battery that supports up to 23W wired charging and up to 7.5W wireless charging. This is another upgrade from the Pixel 8a, which had a 4492mAh battery. Pixel 9a’s USB Type-C 3.2 port supports USB Power Delivery (PD) 3.0 too.

Camera

Google Pixel 7a - Cameras

This phone’s camera setup has been thoroughly revamped compared to Pixel 8a as aforementioned. Pixel 9a uses a 48MP f/1.7 main sensor with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and optical image stabilization (OIS). Whereas its secondary rear camera is a 13MP ultra-wide sensor with a 120° FoV. The front camera is a 13MP unit too.
