Design

This iPad, like the iPad Pro 11-inch, has a flat aluminum body. It measures only 6.4mm thick and weighs between 682 and 685 grams—depending on whether it is WiFi or cellular. As a result, the tablet is fairly hefty to carry in one's hands. Moreover, volume rockers are located on the side frame, while the power button is located on top. This, however, is not a TouchID-enabled home button.

Display

As the name suggests, you are greeted by a 12.9-inch screen. This is a mini-LED backlit display with more contrast and brightness than a normal LED-backlit screen. It is achieved by spreading over 2500 local dimming zones among the panel's 10,000+ mini-LEDs. Anyways, the display boasts a 2732 x 2048 pixel resolution with support for a wide color gamut, and TrueTone. It's also a ProMotion compliant panel, so the refresh rate can vary from 10-120Hz depending on the content on the screen. Likewise, the brightness here can go as high as 1600 nits.

Performance

Inside the chassis, it is powered by an Apple M1 chip. It's an octa-core processor with 4 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. Likewise, the graphics are handled by an 8-core GPU.  Memory options include up to 16GB of RAM and up to 2TB of storage.

Audio

Over on the audio front, it has a quad-speaker setup that supports Dolby Audio. For calls, video/audio recording, it includes a total of five "studio-quality" mics set around the frames of the iPad and one on the camera module.

Battery

The tablet is powered by a 40.8Wh battery that supports 20W fast charging through a USB Type-C port. It's also a Thunderbolt 3 interface that can support multiple peripherals directly to your iPad.

Moving on, it has the same camera arrangement as the iPad Pro 11-inch. This means, there's a triple camera setup on the rear led by a 12MP primary lens.
