Samsung Galaxy A16 5G is a new midrange phone, that comes as a successor to last year’s Samsung Galaxy A15. The phone is available in two different connectivity options, but the 5G variant hit the Nepali shelves first.

Design and Display
The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G retains a slim 7.9mm profile, making it comfortable to hold. For the first time in the Galaxy A10 series, it comes with an IP54 rating, adding basic dust and water resistance. Samsung’s signature “Key Island” camera layout, introduced with previous A-series models, adds a stylish touch, and the 5G model features unique spotlight-like patterns on its matte back cover. Available in striking hues of Light Grey, Blue Black, Light Green and Gold, it offers a visually appealing design.
On the front, the Galaxy A16 5G boasts a vibrant 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display, stretching to an FHD+ resolution. This large panel supports a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, delivering fluid interactions, whether scrolling or gaming. With 800 nits of peak brightness, this phone ensures decent outdoor visibility, even on sunny days. Additionally, its 16 million colour depth enhances media experiences with rich and vivid visuals.
Performance and the rest
The Galaxy A16 5G runs with different chips under the hood depending on the region. The options include Samsung’s in-house Exynos 1330 and the MediaTek Dimensity 6300. The Nepali audience will be getting the latter option. This processor is a successor to the Dimensity 6100+ featured on the A15 5G. While the core architecture remains unchanged, it peaks at a higher frequency than its predecessor. The device has up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, and it is expandable by up to 1.5TB via a MicroSD card, so there’s ample room for photos, videos, and apps.
Samsung’s One UI, based on Android 14, powers the software, promising an intuitive experience. Furthermore, Samsung ensures extended support on the Galaxy A16 5G, with up to six years of software and security updates. This model includes Samsung Knox, providing added security against potential threats. In terms of battery life, this phone packs a robust 5,000 mAh battery with 25W wired fast charging support. In terms of cameras, it includes a 13MP front camera and a rear setup with a 50MP main camera, a 5MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro lens.
