Samsung Galaxy S26 Overview
Design
The S26 measures 149.6 × 71.7 × 7.2mm and weighs 167 grams, making it only slightly larger than its predecessor. The design now features softer corners, flatter edges, and a new "Ambient Island" camera module that gives the back a cleaner, more premium look. The frame is Armor Aluminum 2 with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on both sides, and IP68 is standard. Colors include Cobalt Violet, Sky Blue, Black, and White.
Display
The 6.3-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X panel (up from 6.2 inches) now hits 2,600 nits peak brightness with a 1–120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It also features the Ultra's ProScaler AI upscaling, though resolution remains at FHD+.
Performance
In the US and China, the S26 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy. Other regions get the Exynos 2600, Samsung's first 2nm chipset. The Snapdragon variant delivers roughly 17–19% faster CPU performance and 23–24% stronger GPU output. Samsung claims up to 29% better heat dissipation over the S25. All configurations come with 12GB RAM, and storage starts at 256GB.
Cameras
The triple rear camera system (50MP main, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP 3x telephoto) carries the same hardware as the S25, but software improvements make a meaningful difference. Nightography Video has been overhauled with per-sensor noise reduction for brighter low-light footage. Horizontal Lock stabilization and Photo Assist natural language editing carry over from the Ultra. The 12MP selfie camera benefits from ISP upgrades for better color rendering.
Battery and Charging
The battery increases to 4,300mAh (up from 4,000mAh), with Samsung claiming up to 31 hours of video playback. Charging speeds stay at 25W wired and 15W wireless, unchanged from the S25, reaching 55% in 30 minutes. Reverse wireless charging is available at 4.5W. No magnets or charger included.
Software and Galaxy AI
One UI 8.5 on Android 16 comes with seven years of updates. Now Nudge brings contextual on-screen suggestions based on messages. Bixby has been upgraded to an LLM-based agent with Gemini integration. Other features include Call Screening, Scam Detection, and Audio Eraser in third-party apps.
Connectivity and Security
The S26 includes 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and USB-C 3.2. Security is handled by an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner and face unlock, with Knox Vault managing sensitive data and on-device AI processing.
