Design and Display

The Tecno Pova 8 keeps the series’ bold gaming-inspired design, but its biggest visual highlight is the new Alive Matrix rear display. The 104-LED interface can show notifications, charging status, incoming calls, and different lighting effects, giving the phone a distinctive look. The device also gets an IP64 rating for basic dust and water resistance.

Upfront, you get a 6.76-inch IPS LCD display with a sharp FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It also supports 240Hz touch sampling, which should make the screen feel more responsive during gaming and everyday use.

Performance

Under the hood, the Pova 8 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7100, a 6nm chipset paired with a Mali-G610 GPU. Tecno also includes its Thermal Z0 cooling system to help manage heat during longer gaming sessions.

For memory, the phone comes with up to 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. On the software side, it runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16, bringing Tecno’s latest customization and AI features.

Camera

Getting to the optics, the Pova 8 features a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture and 2x in-sensor zoom. There is no dedicated ultrawide camera, keeping the setup fairly simple.

Upfront, you get a 13MP selfie camera for selfies and video calls. The rear camera can record videos at up to 1440p at 30fps.

Battery, Charging, and Others

Fueling the Pova 8 is a massive 8,000mAh battery, making battery life one of its biggest strengths. It supports 45W fast charging, with Tecno claiming around 50% charge in 35 minutes. You also get 10W reverse wired charging to power accessories.

For connectivity, the phone supports 5G, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C, and an IR blaster. It also features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for biometric security.
