      Samsung Odyssey G8 Series Overview

The G8 monitors from the front appear similar. The only notable difference between them is the display size.

      Samsung Odyssey G8 (G80HS)

Starting with the 32-inch IPS display, which is actually Samsung’s first 6K (6144 x 3456 pixels) gaming monitor. This monitor has a native 165Hz fast refresh rate, ideal for gamers. Moreover, with Dual Mode, you can achieve a 330Hz refresh rate; however, the resolution is capped at 3K.

Additionally, this monitor supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA’s G-Sync. For port selection, it comes with a single HDMI 2.1 DisplayPort.

      Samsung Odyssey G8 (G80HF)

The G80HF model is the 27-inch IPS panel. This variant offers 5K resolution and, unlike the monitor above, supports a smoother 180Hz refresh rate. Similarly, it also supports dual mode, reducing the resolution to QHD at 360Hz, which is excellent for fast, competitive gaming.

The 27-inch is also compatible with NVIDIA G-Sync and FreeSync Premium Pro. It includes an HDMI 2.1 port.

      Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SH)

      undefined

The OLED G8 has some minor design changes from the previous model. In addition to its design, this OLED variant features a 32-inch 4K QD-OLED panel. The monitor comes in a glare-free finish with a fast 240Hz refresh rate. The full-screen brightness has also been bumped from 250 nits to 300 nits. Last year’s models included OLED Safeguard+ technology to prevent burn-in, which is expected to be present in this model as well.

It also has VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack 500 certification, which guarantees a peak HDR brightness of 500 nits at 2% APL (Average Picture Level) . Ports include HDMI DisplayPort 2.1 (supports up to 80 Gbps bandwidth), as in the non-OLED models, but this model also features a USB-C port with 98W of support.

Samsung Odyssey G8 (2026) Series Launch date

Samsung announced that the G8 Series, along with other models in the Odyssey lineup, will be showcased at CES 2026 in Las Vegas from January 6 to January 9. More details about the pricing will likely be released during that time.
