Vivo X Fold 2 goes official with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and 50MP main camera

Vivo has launched its flagship foldable, the X Fold 2. It's the successor to last year's X Fold, with some improvements. So let's take a look at the specs, features, and expected price of the Vivo X Fold 2 in this article.

Design and Display

Going with the design, Vivo has used an aviation-grade self-developed FS54 material to make the X Fold 2 lightweight and durable. So, the foldable is just 13mm thick when folded and 6-6.7mm when unfolded while the weight is around 280g. The company claims 400,000 folding tests for the hinge which now comes with an upgraded water drop diameter of 5.0mm. However, like the first-gen X Fold, there are no hints of ingress protection this time as well. The phone is available in three color options: China Red, Azure Blue, and String Shadow Black. Up front, there is an 8.03" E6 AMOLED 2K res main display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1800 nits of peak brightness. The cover display is a 6.53" E6 2K res AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1600 nits of peak brightness. Both displays also house an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometric security.

Performance

The X Fold 2 is powered by the latest flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 which is based on a 4nm fabrication process. This flagship SoC contains an octa-core CPU with one Cortex-X3 (@3.2 GHz), two Cortex-A715 (@2.8 GHz), two Cortex-A710 (@2.8 GHz), and three Cortex-A510 (@2.0 GHz). For graphics, there is an integrated Adreno 740 GPU. Likewise, the foldable uses VC cooling to keep the thermals in check. The chipset is further paired with 12GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 onboard storage. Vivo ships this phone with Android 13 with Origin OS Ocean on top.

Cameras

Talking about the cameras, X Fold 2 features a triple camera setup on the back led by a 50MP f/1.8 main sensor. with OIS. Accompanying it are a couple of 12MP lenses for telephoto and ultrawide shots. Like in flagship Vivo phones, the foldable enjoys in-house Vivo V2 ISP and ZEISS optimization. Upfront, you get a 16MP camera on both the main and cover displays for selfies.

Rest of the specs

Continuing with the battery, the phone bears a dual 2400mAh battery, totaling to 4800mAh. It gets accompanied by 120W wired and 50W wireless charging. Likewise, for wireless connectivity, the phone supports triple-band WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, and GPS. Rest apart, you also get a stereo speaker setup powered by Dolby Atmos.
