Yes, you heard it right, you can make your own business platform in Nepal without breaking a sweat. Zalient Shop has provided a free platform for businesspeople to deploy and manage an online shop in a friendly, interactive way. In this article, I will share my experience with this platform and everything that you would need. So, let's start with what Zalient Shop is.
What is Zalient Shop?
To put it simply, Zalient Shop is a platform that helps users build, grow, and run their own online e-commerce businesses. It is designed for entrepreneurs or local business owners seeking to expand their online presence by digitizing their shop. They can use Zalient Shop to host a website, manage orders, and process payments without writing code.
Features they Provide
Website Builder
There are over 10 themes and more than 1000 components to choose from, without needing to code. Users do not have to look for a domain as well. The appearance of the website can be easily changed with features such as footer implementation, different fonts, and colors. The user can also invite others as managers to manage the site.
Inventory Management and Order Tracking
Zalient Shop provides users with easy-to-manage products, category pages, offers, and a lot more. The user can keep track of all the stock and variants inside the dashboard. They also provide real-time order tracking with real-time status updates. They also give the user the option to use FonepayQR or their own Zalient Pay, which is basically a direct bank transfer or cash on delivery.

My Experience
Deployment Phase
Yes, I tried it, and it surprised me. First of all, I had to provide them with the shop name and logo. I named it Vastralaya and added a simple logo. After that, I was asked to fill in my contact information and shop location. After that, the website is live at “yourshopname.zalient.shop”. It was that simple to deploy. However, I have one complaint.
That is, they did not confirm if the information I provided was correct. That means, people can use other people’s phone numbers and email addresses and deploy the shop under that information. It would have been nice if they had added an OTP verification to confirm the information provided.
Management Phase
After you deploy the online shop, you are greeted by a pleasing dashboard. Here, I can add products, check orders, manage promotional offers, and more. The notifications are also real-time, and we get every single change in an order. Customer's details are also viewable from the Customers tab. I can also edit the website directly by adding my shop's policy, Terms and Conditions, and FAQs.
I was also disappointed by the templates. Zalient advertised more than 10 templates (twice in the same paragraph), but I could only choose the Default Template. Another thing is the invite manager features, which are like adding another user to manage the shop. I invited my other account, but I didn’t receive any emails about it. I tried logging in with that other account, but it did not prompt for Shop information and opened dashboard directly.
Orders
The admin manages orders. I really liked that ordering products was fast. Whenever a user purchased an item from the shop, I received an email with all the details immediately. The user side also received an email to track the order. I could change the order status to pending, approved, canceled, and more options, and payment status to paid, unpaid, and refunded.
Analytics
I could track my total revenue, number of products in store, total transactions, and more. I could also track my website's analytics, all the basic stuff like total clicks, unique visitors, and how they accessed the website. But it was confusing, as it was hard to understand precisely what an average session meant when there were three clicks.
Conclusion
The concept is excellent, and the platform being free puts it at the top of other competitors like Wix. Moreover, the focus on e-commerce platforms is significant, as lesser-known local shops can promote their products on these platforms. The website is user-friendly, but its management is not up to par. It is okay for anyone who wants an online presence for their shop, but anything beyond that is a no-go. However, if Zalient puts more focus on security and fixes minor bugs, then no doubt this platform will shine brighter than any other platform, especially in Nepal.
