The Acer Aspire Go 14 (2024) is a sleek little ultrabook that I have been using for the past 7 days. It doesn’t try to be flashy, but it feels fast, smooth, and capable for everyday tasks. I’ve been using the unit with the Intel Core Ultra 5 125H, 16GB DDR5 RAM, and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD, and honestly, the performance really stands out. For an ultrabook that keeps things simple, it handles everything I throw at it without breaking a sweat. But not all of its aspects are perfect! Let’s find that out in my Acer Aspire Go 14 2024 review.

Acer Aspire Go 14 (2024) Review:

      Design and Build

      • 14-inch chassis, 1.7 kg,
      • Plastic build

Acer has kept things pretty simple with the Aspire Go 14, and after using it daily, I feel the design is decent for the price. You get a clean grey finish, a straightforward traditional laptop layout, and an elongated hinge that slightly lifts the chassis. I actually appreciate this hinge because it allows a bit of airflow underneath, which helps the laptop stay cooler during longer sessions.

The build quality is fine. It doesn’t feel premium, but it also doesn’t feel flimsy either. The keyboard is comfortable enough for everyday typing, though nothing particularly special, and the trackpad is just average. It’s usable, but not very smooth or precise. Still, for a budget-friendly machine, the overall design and build get the job done.

      Display

      • 14" WUXGA IPS panel
      • 60Hz refresh rate, 45 percent NTSC color gamut
      • 250 nits brightness, Matte anti-glare finish

The Aspire Go 14’s display is what I would call okay, nothing more. The WUXGA resolution keeps text and visuals sharp, but the limited color gamut and low brightness are noticeable. Indoors, it holds up fine, and the matte coating helps reduce reflections. Here are some benchmark results for a clearer picture.

For watching movies, YouTube, or doing office work, it’s serviceable. But if you’re expecting anything vibrant or color accurate, this panel will fall short. It’s clearly a cost-cutting area, and it shows.

      Performance

      • Intel Core Ultra 5 125H CPU
      • Intel Arc integrated graphics
      • 16GB DDR5 RAM, 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD

The best part about this laptop is definitely its performance. With the Core Ultra 5 125H and 16GB RAM, I found the Aspire Go 14 to be very responsive. Multitasking with multiple Chrome tabs, documents, and media running in the background felt smooth without any hiccups.

Gaming is possible too. I tested Valorant and consistently saw around 140 fps. But since this is only a 60Hz panel, you can’t really feel the full smoothness of those high frame rates. Still, for casual esports or lightweight titles, this laptop does better than I expected.

Overall, for everyday use, work, browsing, and entertainment, the Aspire Go 14 handles everything effortlessly. For the price, it nails the performance aspect.

      Battery Life and Ports

      • 53Wh battery
      • USB-C with Power Delivery, HDMI 2.1, 2x USB-A, 1x USB-C, 3.5mm combo jack, microSD card

Battery life is decent. With my typical use of Chrome, YouTube, and some work apps, I consistently got around 5 hours of screen-on time. It’s not all-day endurance, but it’s enough for half a workday or casual use.

      undefined

The part I liked most is USB-C charging. The default charger it ships with is bulky, and my Ugreen GaN charger powered it perfectly. This made the laptop much more convenient to travel with. Port selection is practical, too. You get USB-A ports, HDMI, and a full-function USB-C port with DisplayPort and charging support. For a budget laptop, this is actually pretty solid.

      Keyboard and Trackpad

      • Chiclet keyboard
      • Windows precision trackpad (average performance)

The keyboard is fine on the Acer Aspire Go 14. I typed comfortably on it, and while it’s not exceptional, it didn’t bother me either. The trackpad, however, feels very average. It works, but it lacks smoothness, and the clicks feel a bit hollow. It’s not bad enough to be a deal-breaker, but it's definitely a compromise.

      Webcam and Audio

      • 720p HD camera
      • Stereo speakers

The 720p webcam is basic and gets the job done for video calls, nothing more. The stereo speakers aren’t very loud, but for one-person use, movies and videos sound clear enough. Vocals are easy to hear, but like many budget laptops, the bass is almost nonexistent.

Acer Aspire Go 14 2024 Review: Conclusion

To wrap it up, the Acer Aspire Go 14 offers great value if you prioritize performance over everything else. The display and build are average, but the Core Ultra processor, 16GB RAM, and SSD make everyday tasks fast and smooth. USB-C charging is a big plus, battery life is decent, and the overall user experience is better than I expected for the price.

If you want a reliable, fast laptop for work, classes, browsing, and light gaming without spending too much, the Aspire Go 14 is a solid option with only a few compromises.
