Apple iMac M4 Overview
M4 Chip
The 2024 iMac now includes Apple’s M4 chip, offering faster performance compared to previous models. The CPU includes up to 10 cores—4 for performance and 6 for efficiency—making it 1.7 times faster than the original M1 and 1.3 times quicker than the M3, specifically in tasks like Excel processing. Additionally, the 10-core GPU is twice as fast as the M1 and 1.1 times faster than the M3, particularly for gaming purposes. The Neural Engine has also been upgraded, delivering three times the speed of the previous M1 version.
Apple provides more flexibility with RAM and storage options. The base model includes 16GB of RAM, with options to upgrade to 24GB or 32GB if needed. Storage options start at 256GB and can be expanded up to 2TB.
Display
The 24-inch 4.5K Retina display returns with an option for nano-texture glass, which reduces glare. This feature is available at an extra cost of $200 but is not included in the base model.

Connectivity and Others
The iMac’s connectivity options vary between models. The premium model includes four Thunderbolt 4 ports with built-in Ethernet and supports up to two 6K 60Hz or one 8K 120Hz external display. In contrast, the base model provides two Thunderbolt 4 ports without Ethernet, though Ethernet can be added for an additional $30.
