
Apple’s all-in-one desktop — iMac, had been forgotten for quite some time now. The device received its last update over 2 years ago. Now, the much-needed update for the iMac has finally been announced during the “Scary fast.” Apple Event. Let’s look at what’s new, the full specifications, the expected price of the iMac M3, and so on!

Design and Display
The Apple iMac (M3) remains unchanged in terms of design as the M1 variant. It is an all-in-one desktop that measures just 11.5mm in thickness. The choices of colours remain the same as well. Those being: Blue, Green, Pink, Silver, Yellow, Orange, and Purple. However, the base variant of the iMac is available in the first four colours only.
In terms of display, we are getting the same 24-inch Retina display with the new iMac as well. Sadly, a larger screen for the iMac was not announced at the event, and we will have to wait for it. However, the latest iMac boasts a 4.5K resolution with 11.3 million pixels altogether. It is capable of P3 wide colour gamut and can achieve 500 nits of peak brightness.
Performance
The latest iMac (M3) received the largest upgrade in the performance department. For starters, the new Apple desktop has received the latest M3 chipset in various different configurations. It comes with an 8-core CPU wherein four cores are dedicated to performance and the other four to efficiency. On the other hand, the iMac (M3) comes in two different GPU core options: 8 and 10. Finally, the new M3 chip has a 16-core Neural Engine.
We are also getting various options in terms of other hardware aspects with the iMac (M3). The iMac comes with up to 24 GB of unified memory. Apple claims the unified memory is faster than traditional RAM as it is integrated within the chip. Similarly, you can configure your iMac with up to 2 TB of SSD for storage. Lastly, we are getting the macOS Sonoma on the software side.

Connectivity and the rest
The new iMac finally has WiFi 6E support alongside Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless connectivity. In terms of wired connection, we are getting two Thunderbolt ports as well as two USB 4 ports. Meanwhile, higher configurations of iMac (M3) come with two additional USB 3 and a Gigabit Ethernet port.
Furthermore, iMac (M3) also comes with a 1080p FaceTime Camera and studio-quality microphones. It also has a six-speaker sound system with support for Spatial Audio, and Dolby Atmos. Apple is also offering colour-matched keyboard, mouse, and trackpad. Meanwhile, you get a Magic Mouse and a Magic Keyboard bundled with the iMac.

The Apple iMac (M3) starts with a price tag of USD 1,299 and is already available for purchase on Apple’s official website. It may take a few months for this device to arrive here in Nepal. When it does we expect the base iMac (M3) price in Nepal to be around NPR 207,199.
