Apple recently launched a handful of products, including the new iPhones. The Cupertino-based company got a lot of stick for “just adding a button.” However, many of the updates were software-based, including the integration of Apple Intelligence. Now, the company is taking a similar route for its mini tablet. That being said, let's take a look at the iPad Mini 7 (2024) in further detail and discuss its official price in Nepal as well.

AI and Software

As I mentioned earlier, a lot of the upgrades on the 2024 version of iPad Mini come from the software front. This tablet is now “supercharged” with Apple Intelligence. Users get features like Writing Tools that help refine what they write across various apps such as Mail, Notes, Pages, and even third-party apps. Likewise, they will also be getting the updated Siri with richer language understanding and deeper system integration. Not only that, the users can tap into ChatGPT and its extensive knowledge on this iPad as well.

While the AI side of things is the main highlight of the iPad Mini 7 (2024), it will only be available as a software update later this month (October). The upcoming update will be the iPadOS 18.1, which is the other attraction of this iPad. With this update, the tablet now supports Apple Pencil Pro, which brings features like squeeze and roll. Furthermore, users can now enjoy features like Smart Script which allows writing and editing texts in their actual handwriting. This device can now transcribe audio, allow a high level of home screen customisation, and support RCS messaging. Also, the iPad famously lacked a calculator app, however, that is not the case anymore. Performance

Much of the AI heavy-duty is all thanks to the A17 Pro chipset underneath. It is quite a significant jump from the A15 Bionic silicon on the previous iteration of the iPad. This processor arrived alongside Pro models of iPhone 15 with a 16-core Neural Engine (NPU). Similarly, it has a hexa-core CPU, two of the cores are dedicated to pure performance while the rest are for efficiency. Then for graphics, there is a five-core GPU. The whole thing is fabricated on TSMC's 3nm process and as a result, is very efficient.

In the meantime, the iPad Mini 7 (2024) is available in three storage options, those being 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. This is a sizable upgrade over the last generation of iPad, given that it started at a measly 64GB. Though Apple does not outright mention it, they have bumped up the memory on this thing. The latest iPhones were upgraded with 8GB RAM, as it is a minimum requirement for facilitating all the AI tasks. Hence, the latest iPad now likely has the same amount of memory as well. A 19.3Wh battery powers this tablet and with it you can get up to 10 hours of usage.

Design and Display

On the outside, the iPad Mini 7 (2024) barely has any changes. It comes in the same compact size with an aluminium body. It ships in Blue, Purple, Starlight, and Space Grey colours. Additionally, the latest Apple offering is available only on WiFi and cellular variants. Both versions work with WiFi 6E and Bluetooth v5.3, while the latter can tap into 5G networks too.
