Canon has introduced its new EOS R6 V camera, suitable for creating online video content rather than traditional photography. It features a 32.5MP CMOS sensor, 7K Open Gate recording, and active cooling to handle overheating during long recording. The camera sits between the hybrid EOS R6 Mark III and the professional Cinema EOS C50.

Design and build 

In terms of design, the Canon EOS R6 V has a more creator-focused look compared to traditional cameras. As the camera is more video-oriented, Canon has removed features like the electronic viewfinder and mechanical shutter to make the body simpler and more compact. 

Replacing those, it now includes features useful for content creators, such as vertical shooting support for TikTok or Instagram reels, a front record button for solo creators, and a 3-inch fully articulating screen that flips out to the side and rotates 180 degrees, which is useful for vloggers and YouTubers who record themselves. 

Additionally, it has an internal cooling system, making the camera suitable for longer recording sessions without overheating quickly.

Talking about the sensor and video features, the Canon EOS R6 V uses a 32.5MP full-frame sensor, which can shoot up to 7K RAW video, while regular 4K recording is oversampled from 7K to deliver better sharpness and detail. 

For slow-motion videos, the camera supports uncropped 4K recording at up to 120fps and 2K recording at 180fps. Moreover, the Canon EOS R6 V also supports Open Gate recording (3:2 aspect ratio), offering flexibility to creators when cropping videos for platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, or Instagram Reels.
