Dell Inspiron 14 is company's first laptop with Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC

Dell's Inspiron series is home to the company's budget and mid-range laptops with Intel or AMD processors. This year though, the lineup is getting a new member with Snapdragon SoC. It's the Inspiron 14 (3420) which comes with Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 at a pretty affordable price. So, let's delve into the specs, features, and expected price of the Dell Inspiron 14 (3420) in Nepal.

Design and Display

As a budget offering, Dell has opted for a plastic build for the Inspiron 14. Though the plastic used in the laptop is eco-friendly as its made with up to 13.3% post-consumer recycled content. Dell has also made efforts to reduce waste by using packaging made with up to 98.2% recycled or renewable content.Furthermore, it is a fanless machine, which means less noise. And it also contributes to the laptop's thin and lightweight body, which measures 17.52mm and 1.44 kg, respectively. On the front, you get a 14-inch WVA screen with narrow bezels on three sides. The resolution here is Full HD with 1920 x 1080 pixels.

Performance

As aforementioned, the Inspiron 14 (3420) is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 SoC under the hood. This makes it the first Dell laptop with Snapdragon processor. This 2nd gen CPU is built on Kryo architecture with 4 Kryo 495 Gold cores and 4 Kryo 495 Silver cores. On the graphics side, there is an Adreno 690 GPU based on a 7nm fabrication process that has a maximum power of 7W. Talking of the memory configuration, the laptop consists of 8GB of LPDDR4x-2133 memory and a 256GB PCIe NVMe SSD. The RAM is non-upgradable, while you can upgrade the storage.

Ports and Connectivity

Moving to the port options, the Inspiron 14 (3420) provides two USB 3.2 gen 2 Type-C ports with PD and DP support, a USB 2.0 Type-A port, a headphone jack, and a microSD card reader. As for wireless connectivity, it uses dual-band WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 technology.
